Thanks for the upload I didn’t see many frames of snooker from John Parrott remember the final with Steve Davis I always have the feeling that he hit’s the ball really hard sometimes but great uploads thanks greetings from Holland 🇳🇱

Interesting set design that year-looked like they were playing in the ocean, no surprise it was a one-off. The following year it was the first year of the classic pink/red set that lasted until 2005.

What is it about sitting in an audience that makes people think they have to cough? It’s not just because they are smokers. Jimmy smokes during the match, and he doesn’t cough all the time. I think it’s a kind of mass mania.

It had to do with new rules regarding tobacco sponsorship, not allowing the product's colours to be used. I can only imagine that the rules were reinterpreted the following year as the red set was back, although the Embassy name was still not as prominent as had been the case up to 1986.

Jimmy was more talented than most of the people who've been World Champion. You need more than talent to win it though. It was no great shock when Parrott became Champion. Anyone who'd watched him progress in the preceding 6 or 7 years will have noted his improvement not just technically but mentally. He'd served his apprenticeship and by '91 he looked ready to win it.

Craig Park Yeh I guess so. Jimmy only really had himself to blame for not winning it in the 80’s when the standard probably weren’t as high as in the 90’s. He wasn’t dedicated then and enjoyed other things in life. Unfortunately by the time he’d straightened himself out, Hendry came along and spoilt it!

The reason I can see John parrot winning the WSC more than jimmy white as he had more of a mental strength and a better temperament He’s more authoritative hitting the bunch and hitting a power shots , whereas I have seen the world championships Stephen hendry used to Go all Out and jimmy white was always a bit conservative, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t use to go for his shots .

for somone who hit the ball that hard he wasnt able to generate a lot of movement on the cue ball. He was also not great at the less punchy shots which IMO is why he didnt win more than he did.
