so many amazing moments in this solo. Give the camera man some love - he captured the rawness perfectly. the notes that come out at the 2:00 mark...haunting. the solo fades at about the :53 mark on the album and i always used to turn up the volume as it was fading bcoz that part was so good! LOL

in the audio commentary for this video, Jordan said something to the effect of, "whoa, there were quite a few notes in there that didnt fit the scale (diatonic)." I feel that is what made early JP so intriguing, exciting, almost mythical to watch and listen to. His ability to play outside the tonal system in such a subtle way as if to color his improvised solo lines. Nowadays henhas such little use of chromaticism he sounds 'stale.' I think Jordan got into his head.

Yeah, well I actually liked Kevin the best. I really don't care for Jordan's playing. Just preference. He's a great musician, but his playing just doesn't speak to me. just like a lot, not all, of John's later stuff just doesn't speak to me the way his early stuff did.

I just wonder what it feels like. just imagining that feeling gives me goosebumps.
