I'm convinced John can make a trash can lid sound awesome. He plays the drums like an experienced surgeon operating on a patient. Truly enjoy this man's playing. Great video!

Great K stories! The last time I was in Visione's in the Village (1991? 55bar's my favorite) We walked in late & a young Bill Stewart was just finishing his last encore. We looked behind us, and by the entrance Pat Metheny & John Schofield were checking Bill out (before they played with him?). Never forgot that moment.

Oh John you are too polite! Mr. Cymbal Cracker is either Elvin by accident or Buddy on purpose. Hutch wasn't playing yet and in 90's video he has a pizza slice cut out from his cymbal!

Love these videos Memphis Drum Shop and John Riley! The surgery on the 20 has apparently worked and judging by the look of the fix, it is great info for anyone else out there that has a cracked Cymbal! I would also like to thank Mr. Riley again for his info given to me on what kind of K Constantinople ride I should purchase in regards to the particular sound I am looking for. Thanks again, John!

The surgery is what makes the cymbal! Like TW's 22." He played it while chunks flew off and it had to keep getting fixed haha

I have a lot of old A’s and one K. I think they are nothing special compared to my new meinls and bosphorous and Istanbul’s, that sound as good as anything I’ve ever heard. Spizzichino has maybe overall the most consistently outstanding cymbals I’ve heard, but do a blindfold test and I doubt people could hear any difference in the best K and a good modern production cymbal. I would venture to say many people would prefer the newer.
