John has been on my horizon but this is the first time I’ve fully appreciated his mix of traditional singer-songwriter with beautiful use of atmospheric effects. Very much a modern evolution from John Martyn’s similar experiments of yore.

I just saw the "Dividing Line" performance and I had to pause to make this comment. That was absolutely wonderful!!!! The song, arrangement, textures, verbs, and the heartfelt and soulful performance....perfecto! The sound and the video work took this over the top, I was mesmerized by the emotion this performance delivered, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!! John's beautiful voice had hints of Marc Cohn, Eric Clapton, and John Martyn. That was a lovely ride, smooth and easy. Thanks for this!

John is a case study for critics of effects. When people say all you need is a guitar and amp, or guitar and a mic and effects are crutches, they do not understand what just happened here. John did it with just a guitar. He proved he is capable of that. But this setup proves a musician uses tools to make music. And that they are indeed tools. Beautiful. This was so inspiring. Thanks to all of you.

Great to see John back on the show, he's such a fantastic guitar player and musician generally. A lovely fella too. I worked for Fylde guitars many years ago, we made him at least 3 guitars during my time there (ask him about the bubinga 12-string designed to be played in a low C# tuning - such a beautiful guitar). Nice to hear a mention of Tristan Seume too, he used to rock up there from time to time - from memory we built him a Brazilian rosewood Falstaff. Another top chap, he helped me jump start my old Mini, when he should have been in the pub!

I love the format of these shows, that's to say, studio conversation inter-cut with performance (like the Mike Venart, Jocelyn Gould, Steven Wilson and Niko Tsonev shows) first class recording and editing!
