Two things about Klaus...1. I am Klaus is indeed a direct homage to "I am Groot". 2. The actor portraying him is actually a famous bouncer at Berlin's most popular techno club. I forget his name but apparently there are articles and such on how to be more appealing to him, so he lets you in. Dude gives no fvcks and has turned very famous people away. 😊

9 years before John Wick 4, Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada (John's friend and manager of the Osaka Continental) starred together in another movie, 47 Ronin (2014), the same year the first John Wick came out. Hiroyuki also starred with Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe in The Last Samurai as Ujio. and that they had Clancy Brown as the Harbinger... icing on the cake! he doesn't do any action sequences, but just his on-screen presence makes the mood so much heaver!

You didn't show it in the edit, but John's poker hand was two pair, Aces and Eights of clubs and spades. This in poker is known as "The dead man's hand." It got that name because it was supposedly the poker hand that Wild Bill Hickock was holding when he was killed by being shot in the back of the head. There are some that will not play this hand of poker no matter what because of the stigma or curse of "The dead man's hand."

So, the way that people in these movies don't react (or only mildly react) to people being shot, stabbed, and killed around them leads me to two possibilities: 1. A surprisingly large percentage - like 20-30% - of the world's population are professional assassins in some way or another, and this sort of bloodsport is so commonplace in this world that people are numb to it, and all they really care about is getting out of the way so they're not killed in the crossfire. They also apparently trust the accuracy of these assassins enough that they're unlikely to die by accident. 2. There's something almost supernatural about the High Table, such that the actions of anyone operating under it tend to go unnoticed by everyone else. They may hear the gunshots and see people fall, but their minds just dismiss it as unimportant, so it's less that people CARE about it and more that they're only scarcely able to perceive it at all.
@tvix6737

A few things I would like to mention in this part 1 while they are still fresh in my mind: 1) John uses a playing card as a weapon. Using playing cards to cut carrots, watermelons, and other "soft" material is a standard card "trick" among throwing exhibitionists. So, in the hands of a character like John, probably not a "paper cut." 2) The scene with the caldron and the branding is similar to the opening in t.v. show "Kung Fu" with David Carradine.

"No quarter" means no mercy to the defeated. A popular theory for the origin of the term is that when the commander of a victorious army gave the order that the victors would not QUARTER (house) defeated enemies, none could be taken prisoner, and so all would be killed. When I was a kid, it was a pretty well known phrase. I wonder if part of the reason you don't know it is because of how popular culture has changed. Kids still grow up enjoying fighting/combat movies because of how they get your adrenaline going, but I think formalities like quarter/no quarter are like "combat etiqette" from the days when fiction had a more romanticized image of fighting that doesn't suit today's grittier, down and dirty, "no rules" tastes in cinematic combat.

The colours and lighting in this movie are just phenomenal, especially when viewed in 4K. The music selection ranges from good to excellent. And the fights are nicely varied. The sheer number of fights is starting to make it a lot more obvious that Keanu cannot keep up - his opponents have to move slower, get up slower, while they wait their turn to be killed. But overall, it was an amazingly enjoyable movie to watch and a wonderful conclusion to the story of John Wick.
@muldoone6920

This movie was undoubtedly mindblowing. Every movie has gotten increasingly better and John wick is possibly the only movie franchise where I have had my hopes up and had them exceeded anyways. EDIT: Did you know that the Yakuza can only use swords and bows, because gun laws are so strict in Japan that anyone who uses a gun, has their boss also arrested. Yakuza and Triads kill each other like Samurai and Ninjas because it's the only way they can kill each other "Legally". I'd assume Osaka continental is also obeying this law, as they are in Japan. Not to mention that Clan Osaka has been loyal to the Emperor for centuries, they would not break the law, or atleast, his law. The fact that the Table's soldiers brought guns into Osaka continental is very dishonourable.

And they just keep getting better and better with the sets, music and lighting and cinematography. And the stunts of course, crazy to think Keanu is pushing 60. He's in better shape than I'll ever be, guy is immortal I swear. When I heard the Gesaffelstein - Pursuit song come on I was shocked too.
