This is just exquisite, isn't it. I 'discovered' the track a few years ago via the excellent double CD comp 'Let's Slip Away' - I can highly recommend. It's a comp of Dankworth's film & tv material put together by Bob Stanley. Should still be available. I tracked down the song on vinyl - it was released on Fontana c. 1966 as the B-side of Cleo Laine's 'There is Nothing Left to Say'. It also appears on a later Cleo album, 'A Beautiful Thing'. Plenty are available via Discogs. Thank you for posting it on KZitem.

@airborn101st, As far as I know it was an original song by Dankworth. It's possible it wasn't originally written for Scruggs, which was a short film, but to my ear, it sounds like a Dankworth composition. It may have itself been covered later on, that I don't know unfortunately.

I think you have a good ear. Sounds very Dankworthian to me too.

This was and is his wife singing. Like Carol, singing husband Jerry Goldsmith's songs.

I will forever be in your debt if you can answer this question for me. Was this song a cover of another song? Ive been searching for this other song, that may have been a cover of this or visa versa.
