GREAT INTERVIEW: So i started playing guitar for Levert 1985ish, met Johnny after a show we did in DC, I remember him driving that Cresida (silver i think), he complimented my playing, didn't know he played guitar at that time. years later, 11-10-06 Gerald passed & Johnny did a show filling for G's spot opening up for the Ojays, Like in the interview looking out for folks in need, he added some of Gerald's band/singers to that & future show's over the next couple of years. he's been a blessing to many. I currently still do 3/4 fill in shows a year with him (some with Ralph on the show was well & he performs the hell out of 'boys to men' still). Great dude, Great job gentlemen.

I felt when Johnny talked about his mother I just lost my mother in August this year to cancer, she fought for four long years, her body gave up before she did, but it was hard watching her decline, especially when I had to leave her to get back to my family which she wanted because I lived hundreds of miles away and I have two brothers and a sister with her, but it's one of the hardest lost I've ever experienced 😢 R.I.P to his mother.

When I lost my mom it felt as if a literal hole had been ripped through my heart ❤️. I left for work our last conversation she reassured me she was okay. I arrived home that morning about 3:00 a.m. from work and she wad gone. My solace came in my knowledge that she had a relationship with God. My mother was fortunate throughout her battle with cancer (lung) to look at her you would have never known she had cancer. Prior to that diagnosis she lost part of a foot to melanoma. Not once did she ever complain, cry or throw up her hands in despair. In my moments of weakness with life I’m reminded of her strength. ❤❤❤❤❤ she is with me .

Boys 2 Men will always be my favorite song! I always thought as a kid that the song was called growing pains and was for all of us but no, it for boys…to men 🤣 While I want us ladies to have an anthem, this song is still my favorite coming of age song ☺️ I be just singing my little girlish heart out 😆 Whenever I’m feeling down like adulthood is the ghetto (cause it is😆) I play that song (which means I play it regularly 😆) I LOVE that song! Johnny and Ralph are a special combination. Johnny looks amazing and like everyone said man, it warms my heart to see grown men laughing and smiling like this. Very nice tribute about Johnny's mother. He stated a couple of things that I probably have never heard from anyone after a mother passing. Continued prayers.

The song Boys to Men is truly a pillar in the foundation of my life. Without that song to listen to and reflect on during some of my most challenging moments in life, I would not have grown to become the man I am today. During so many forks in the road of life that I had to face, the lyrics of this song would instantly play in my mind, joining the military, going to college, graduating, going to war, landing my dream job, the birth of my children…this song has been like a favorite bible passage at times. Learning the background and motivation to how and why Johnny sang the song reveals another layer of the masterpiece, Boys to Men. Thank you Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, & Johnny Gill💪🏾🫡🎤🎵🎶
