Johnny Marr without Morrissey is kind of like Paul McCartney without John Lennon. Talented individually, but together they had something special.

Now I know how Johnny Marr felt. You can see right away that the music is his but the lyrics are not.

I think Marr sounds pretty damn good here. He's 30+ years removed from when these songs were written. The guy is in his 50's for fucks sake. We should all be thankful he's still even playing these classics.. A question to all the haters. Have you heard what Morrissey's voice sounds like lately? Research that for a bit. And then shut the fuck up.

What a great song, both extremely energic and leading to a kind of smooth sadness PS: thanks Johnny, it helped me a lot to learn this!

It's really funny hearing not Morrissey singing about knowing how Joan of Arc felt. The guitar playing is extraordinary, however.

He needs to pull a Peter Hook and tour playing all Smith’s songs. I’d pay a good chunk to see that.

I know both Johnny and Stephen have sworn off any idea of reuniting to collaborate, let alone perform together (even if it's without the drummer and bass player) but whenever I watch Morrissey or Marr footage of them performing Smith's songs without each other it leaves me with a feeling that something is still "missing". I still like watching their performances either way, but I'm just sayin'

Johnny hasn't "sworn off" any idea. He actually said in his autobiography that it almost happened a few years back and he and Morrissey were both excited by the idea. They're still young-ish :P

Zach Martin That's cool, and I think collaborating together could bring the story of The Smiths full circle. Their influence and their contribution to rock music is just as important as many others who are still together since the 60s.

Fan Made Videos they agreed it would be nice and might happen and they agreed they'd need a new drummer. but its not happening. how nice it must be to know that you are Mike Joyce and if it were to happen neither of them would want you involved.

This is good, Marr does a good job. But this is one of those Smiths songs that just doesn't sound right without Morrissey's dramatic wailing. Complete respect for Marr's songwriting and playing though.
