I just got a "warning" from youtube that I've never seen before. It claimed this video is considered offensive, and made me click "I understand and wish to continue" before I could watch. A video in which a guy politely demonstrates vintage toys is offensive. Nothing has ever made me want to abandon this site more.

I got one from "Santa" in 1966. Was one of my best Christmas toys ever. However, over time, all the launchable projectiles were "lost" or quietly taken by my parents so I wouldn't shoot my brothers and sisters. The cap pistol finally was broken beyond repair by my children. A great toy.

Like other toys from the 60s, it was made of plastic, but a solid thick one. I had one of these that I got from my American uncle. Recently I picked it down from the cellar. The launchers were broken, some springs were no longer staying in place, but being so solid, I managed to drill it, put screws in the right places and now it works again. With modern toys this would have been very unlikely.

I got one of these about 40 years ago for Christmas. We all got them. They were the most awesome toy gun of the time and Nerf is really a modern version of the concept. The Johnny Seven OMA isn't an air blaster. It is all mechanical and spring powered and all the missiles and bullets are made of hard to medium hard plastic. The rockets and grenade are hollow plastic and the bullets are solid plastic. The bullets fired the furthest, but I doubt anywhere near as far as a Nerf foam dart. The younger generation brought up with Nerf can have no concept of just how revolutionary this was! Having said that and as much as I would love one for nostalgic reasons, you must be mad even opening this up. That is pristine - including the box. The box is all important to collectors (which I am not). I have seen these sell in the UK in much worse condition, but complete for over £700 (about $900 U.S. or $1,100 Canadian or Australian. So a mint example like this in a mint box with all the leaflets which are also mint ... you could virtually name your price to a collector or dealer or toy museum. It has to be worth over £1,000 I would have thought. I've never seen one completely unopened and unused like this. Shame you had to tear the cardboard inside to get it out. That probably reduced its value by a quarter. Still, it was meant to be used - so good for you, fella! :-)

Owned one back in the day. They originally came in a large display box with a plastic cellophane window. You could have removed the butt plate stock and avoided tearing the cardboard that held it in its packaging. The bullets were easily lost ,so you had to be careful when shooting the rifle portion of the gun. The plastic projectiles had a piece that would be held in place for the spring loaded mechanism that allowed for the discharge of the bunker and armor piercing pieces. Those would often break after a few shots making them unusable. The pistol had a cheesy cap gun that would move the caps unevenly causing them to jam after a while. All in all it was a 9 year olds fantasy when playing army. I owned a lot of war weapons while growing up and so far have never killed anybody. Nothing like the paranoid and anxious legislators (California) writing the laws these days,eh?

I hear you! This toy was way before my time, but what boy between age five and 105 wouldn't be overjoyed to find this under the Christmas tree!?!?!? I had an *arsenal* of cap guns as a child. (I still do, thanks to my amazing mom carefully keeping my childhood toys, she must have known I was going to have an amazing little boy of my own one day, cuz I do!) I was taught firearms safety from a young age. My dad wisely used toy guns as a teaching aid. We had so many wonderful times together, pretending to be cowboys, Davy Crockett, French Foreign legionnaires, African adventurers, etc! As I got older, we transitioned to real firearms and it is a passion we share to this day! I've added the Johnny Seven OMA to my cap gun collection and it's a beautiful piece of history and childhood fun!

I also had a toy gun arsenal as a kid. On one occasion when I was about 8 years old, I accidentally left a very realistic cap gun (An Edison Giocattoli Jaguarmatic, which is an exact copy of a Lama mark IV .380) between the cushions of a couch in the lobby of a big hotel. The police were called. The officers were extremely nice to me! They gave me a super cool "Jr" NYPD badge, which I still own. That was my favorite childhood cap gun, I owned several of the same model. When I was 22 I bought a real llama mk IV, which is a beautiful 3/4 scale 1911 style pistol. I'm still looking for a Jaguarmatic, they are hard to find!

I had this gun when I was 10 years old back in 1964. My brother had one also. Those white bullets stung like hell when you got hit by them.

I had one of these when I was a young lad in the sixties. It was the best toy I ever had except for the scalextric racing kit.

This video is very badly done, he put the camera on the garage door and we couldnt even see where and how long the gun if shooting. I think he might have missed the tommy gun, it might have worked but he didnt know how to set it up (?)

They didn't have snowflake warnings on the original tv commercials. Hell, I had one of these. The Johnny Seven One Man Army - cool. We used to tape firecrackers and M-80's to the projectiles.

What I would do to own my OMA again. Every boy and adult man in my street was so jealous. Well done brought back so many super memories. Feel free to send me a spare one if you have it. Ha Ha Ha. 🏴

I had one. Awesome. Couldn't believe my parents really bought it for me. Wouldn't be allowed now.
