@@pinballdave804 there were a few far better players than Jimmi . Don't forget he died young so he wasn't developed over the years. I'm sure has he lived he may have moved further up the ladder. Jeff Beck is far greater ......Roy Buchanan loved Hendrix but he did things Hendrix copied but using distortion pedals a whammy bar etc ..Roy saw him play and said Wow....I get those effects using volume and tone controls manipulation and one amp and two hands. Cleanest player of them all and try to find one person save Jeff Beck who copied Roy's techniques and manipulation and no one has been able to copy Jeff. Clapton is a better guitarist as was Frank Zappa. Danny Gatton...Roy Clarke I could go on.

Winter on fire again, very hectic not ever resting for one note , not very subtle (like eg Robben Ford) but still impressive, most fluid blues player ever. Blues - and Hendrix did that- is staying on one note for a while. Winter stayed on one note.

@@hoffy1003You know, I heard that too, but I'm wondering who did those licks first, Johnny or Jimi. In other words, who was copying whom. Anyway, I guess it doesn't matter, they both sounded great doing those particular licks.
@hoffy1003

@@willg54 True, but knowing that Hendrix wrote it, I think it's a bow to Jimi. Ya know back then I always felt Johnny and Jimi had similar vibrato, articulations, and expressions on the guitar. They bent strings in a "similar" fashion" . They came up listening to the same blues artists. Going back and forth between major scales and minor scales at the same time, while doing a lick. Older blues artists weren't that sophisticated in their tools of the trade back then.
