I've got a 1985 25 horse Johnson 2 stroke. Today, at the dock, i pulled on the cord and the rope came out of the handle and into the engine it went. I took the boat out of the water and I'll be working on this tomorrow. Thank you so much for the video!

just broke a spring on a 1963 johnson 5.5. New to outboards, and really appreciated your attention to detail and cleaning/greasing monologue. Many videos just slap parts in with no explanation. Thank you for the service.

Three years in and still super-helpful. Thanks very much and I enjoy all of your vids as an owner of a 1985 25hp Johnson AND a 2005 Johnson 90hp 2 smoke. Really appreciate the time you take to make quality, helpful vids for us DIY'ers. No "pros" want to work on these older motors any more. So it's up to us! Thanks again, Dave (RI)

Tell me why it took me 2 hours to do this. I did it the first time and didn’t tighten up the spring so my rope didn’t suck back in😂🤬. But thank god for people like this. I appreciate this 1,000 times over. Thank you for making this video.

Thanks for the video Brandon. I was out fishing today and my pull cord snapped but luckily the motor started before it did so I was able to get back to shore on the main motor (1999 Johnson 25 hp) I have seen a couple videos and yours by far shows the easiest method to install a new rope!

Tried a 3/16" rope and even put a knot in it on the handle end which the old 1958 10hp Johnson didn't call for(you run it through a channel in the handle)it pulled through the handle on the fourth pull and I had to start over. The old manual says it's 7/32 but that size rope is harder to find

Hello and thank you for all your videos. What length of rope do you put? and can lithium grease do the trick to lubricate the platter? I have never done this repair, but thanks to your explanations, I will try with confidence! Thank you in advance for your answer . David, from France :-)

Have you considered a clip on mic? I like your vids but the audio is very problematic, any time you turn you face away from the camera is very hard to understand what you are saying, even with the volume cranked way up. Just a suggestion, thanks for you vids.

Hey i want to ask you about johnson/evinrude cdi ignition coils ,1977~1984 and 1985~1995 I know they have same ohms resistance in primary and secondary but they have different connector between the coil and power pack The question is if they have the same dimensions and mounting holes or not?

Hi Brandon great channel and video I was wondering if you do this kind of work for customers and if you are willing to do the same for my pull start on a 35hp the gromet for the rope is busted , the rope is worn out and doesn't recoil fully. I live in the city so having a shop and tools inside an apartment is limited . I'm willing to ship you the assembly and pay you as you request . Please let me know if you can help thanks.

Understood, my only concern is the grommet. Where are you located? and what year is your engine? (or send me the model number)
