Jon and Geeks are YES. I was gifted Close to the Edge by my brother when I was 13 ('74). I had requested Fragile. I was mad for about 15 mins. We played the album over and over on his newly bought Pioneer SX 737 stereo and turntable, and JBL speakers, that he brought back from Korea. Me, my bro and his friends went to see YES and Gentle Giant, at the Cow Palace in Daly City in 1976. Seeing and hearing Jon, with eager and talented musicians is a gift.

Having been at the very first Yes gig on Mersea Island in Essex and having seen them 5 further times up to the last Classic line up gig in Braintree, Essex, Jon and the Band Geeks are as close sounding to the classic line up as you are ever going to get! Jons voice is just as note perfect as it was all those years ago!

I love Jon and so grateful for his 50 years of music... but, having perfect pitch, I can humbly assure you that your comment is not accurate as there are enough notes that are certainly not what they used to be. This is NOT a criticism to Jon. His vocal instrument (and big heart and passion) are still inspirational and commendable for his age.
@yeswolf1

@@abiyoya Who cares? It isn't about being spot on pitch, it's about the emotional connection to the material, the power of Jon's lyrics, and the incredible way he is able to depart the meaning of those lyrics while singing them live. I've seen him live over 100 times since my first YES show in Nov '72. Never the same, as it should be, but NO ONE can hit the ball out of the park with these songs every time but Jon.

Jon is the only living founder of YES. Yet Jon and Chris were very excited to have Steve replace Peter Banks in 1970, and Howe's first album with YES, The YES Album brought the band world-wide fame. It was Rolling Stone Magazine that wrote, "The addition of Steve Howe has allowed YES to find its true identity." His contributions to every YES album throughout the 70's was extraordinary, and his performance on all tours was nothing short of magnificent. For 5 consecutive years he was named the Best Overall Guitarist in the World, and what most of the people here fail to understand that it was Steve Howe's contributions to YES is why Jon Anderson and the Geeks have such great songs to play. So what if we was not an original member. Who cares?
