What do expect. This song was first released back in 1986. 30+ years of singing and touring is bound to have an adverse effect and strain on the vocal chords. I'm sure it's quite hard for him to sing those higher notes nowadays. But he stl kills it. I was 7 when this song was released as a single, off of the album Slippery When Wet and remains my favorite to this very day. ❤️

This really drives the wedge in saying how you don’t need to be the best singer to be a great musician. The right song and correct key makes you 100% better. Of corse I love Bon Jovi, but tbh, he’s not the best singer and I love that about him, he’s one of my inspirations through music and without him I would probably not be into music like I am today. I first saw him live when I was 5, then again as 10 and 15.

When I was 30 in Elko, Nevada, a young man walked up to me as I was working...he asked me if I was a Snow Bunny due to my white glasses...I laughed shyly and said no I don't even ski...his 3 other long haired friends went to have a bite to eat...he was so nice everytime he spoke with me..as his friends returned to leave ...he handed me a note...I smiled and put it in my pocket...on my break my Friends said did you see them...I said see who...they screamed...BON JOVI AND HIS BAND...I said a blonde haired guy gave me a note...I reached in and retrieved the note...as I opened it...they were huddled around me...lol...the note said...I think your pretty, let's go out call me love Jon...and his number was written...my Friends started screaming...lol...call him Marylynn...call him....I said I'm too shy...finally after a month...I called...I told them...I will not talk...I will just listen...his message said..hi...you reached Jon's pad let's party...lol...I hung up...I'm not a groupie...I did not know it was Bon Jovi...I love his music ...but more than that I loved his kindness...I'm sure he wondered why I was so calm....he is an amazing man ...one year later he married his high school sweetheart and has 4 children...someone asked me if I regret it...I said not because of his fame...but because I love music and would love to just sit and talk with him.

This version is in E standard tuning, mostly on his live show he plays this song in Eb, consequently as about 1 tone lower. Don´t know why here it is in E key - maybe due to other singer and Bonjovi said - no probem ;-)

Just transpose the songs down a couple of keys so that you can actually sing them properly. The band are all talented musicians so it wouldn’t be difficult. That way we wouldn’t have to see/hear Jon struggle and then his head might stop wobbling too.

I think Bon Jovi's band tunes down a half step or so (I think a full step now) and maybe Train doesn't. Also, he may have needed to stretch out his voice more since he does that song towards the end of his show normally. Not making excuses - here in 2020 I can't stand to watch/listen to him sing live because it makes me cringe. But 5 years ago, he still had a little gas left in the tank and would have been able to kill it. He knew walking in he was going to struggle and still did it.
