The only production motor that comes even remotely close would be the 3rd gen coyote but this isnt the place for such talk lol. The backyard builds then where insane and i have to wonder if they didnt push ev because realistically, wtf can you do to catch one of these with a 55 gallon drum for a gas tank? Some of those pro mods built in someone backyard with ingenuity alone running the gas they did then would slap the living s*** out of every v8 today.

@@jeffhastings3463 Been there, done that! Used to have a '68 Chevelle SS that had a Borg-Warner T-10 4-speed in it. Originally came from a '62 Bel Air 409. I snapped a tooth off 2nd gear of the countershaft and had to rebuild it (that's how I discovered its origin). This was back in the 80's, so I spent a lot of time at the Chevy dealer parts counter. LOL. Weirdest thing, there was no part# on the shaft. The only way we identified it was by 'tooth count'. 17-20-23-30 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th. As we're looking through the books trying to find a match, most all were like, 19-22-25-29. Parts guy said, "Damn, this thing is like a 3-speed with an overdrive!" Of course when he finally discovers where it came from he says, "We'll that makes sense now. Big heavy-ass car like that with a behemoth of an engine? It needed to be geared low to get it moving. Then once it's up to cruising speed, the RPM's drop down. Cool!" It really hit me then cuz I had raced a guy and we were neck & neck thru the first 3 gears. When I hit 4th, the RPM'S dropped to the low-end of the torque band and I just pulled away, finishing at least a car length ahead. Afterwards, the other guy says, "Man! Your 4th gear is a motherfucker!!" LOL Funny because to this day, he likes to make fun of manuals and says shit like, "Stick shifts impress high school girls. Auto's win races." I have to remind him when I spanked his ass. LOL! To be honest, I don't think he ever learned how to drive a stick! 😆

To get around the issue of small teeth on the gear from grinding companies make gears that have just a few big lugs on the gear with large enough gaps that allows the gear to slam into engagement no matter what. Look up dog box gears. You go from like 20 small teeth that need to line up to 4 big lugs that fit into a big hole to engage. Its harsh but it'll go in. Hes using a sequential shifter as well which is different from a normal h pattern so you dont miss a shift.
