The line for goaltender interference is very clear. The line is impeding the goaltender and the standard is you being the crease by yourself whilst a goalie is trying to make a save. That was present in both goals, doesn’t matter the degree of interference that’s not what the question is, it’s whether it occurred which it clearly did on both goals. Jon Cooper complaining is the equivalent of him being upset because of a minuscule offside call or a barely icing; as long as the standard is met the call is made and the standards are clear

As a non-fan, the first goal was interference. Duclairs right stake is in the blue and Bobrovsky cant make the trapper cover for a whistle because his leg is there. Then Duclair moves his right leg back again in an attempt to move the puck and Bobrovsky loses his stick. The second one was a lame call. And Cooper says goals are a premium in the playoffs. Well yeah, maybe when your team loses 6-1. Has he seen the other playoff series scores? Seems no one else, except the losing teams, want to define goals as coming as a premium.

Tampa fan here. The second disallowed goal, I think that was a good call. Anthony Cirelli definite went into the crease on his own and impeded Bob (though I think the goal would've gone in anyway). The FIRST one though was absolutely a bad call. I didn't even notice this until the press conference, but Anthony Duclair losing his balance because of Forsling holding his stick and then trying to stay on his feet should have prevent the call that was made. A defensive zone player causing an offensive zone player to impede the goaltender CANNOT be considered goalie interference. The refs paid attention to Bob and Duclair's skate but never took into account Duclair getting held. Bob (I do respect him as a goaltending fan) sold that one and the refs fell for it. Now look, Tampa definitely had chances to come back (especially with how awesome Vasy was playing), but still, it's like Coach said. Momentum. This game's outcome was absolutely influenced by refereeing and the NHL needs to wake up.

Nothing but respect for Jon Cooper. I initially thought both incidents were goaltender interference, but he has a point about the net front battles and the intensity of playoff hockey and how it doesn’t seem quite fair bc it seems to give the goalie the benefit of the doubt. He stated his beliefs respectfully while acknowledging Florida’s game absolute class act

The difference is the goalies have to defend against ALL the action. Whereas a defender and attacker are just in battle with each other. If a goaltender had to wrestle with an attacker like the defenders do, then they wouldn't be able to get positioned for the shots. That's why there is a crease. It's a defined area on the ice with rules for it. Just like the blue line, red line, trapezoid. Those area's matter. Tampa lives on having 81, 96, 77, 20 and 21 on their PP. The talent on the perimeter allows someone to get their ass right in goalies face....and that's allowed, until you get in the paint and make contact. Then went in or pushed in becomes crucial. Both 10 & 71 went in themselves and made contact. Cirelli does it all the time. Look at the first minutes of 3rd period, doing exactly the same thing that just got a goal overturned. Only reason it didn't get called was because it didn't go in.

@@pmczapczara5332 trust me bro I hear you but the cirelli call especially looks very soft the more I look at it. Maybe the first one was a valid interference call but it did not look like cirelli effected bob’s ability to make a save all that much imo

@@pmczapczara5332 in other words I don’t think just any contact with the goalie in the crease should warrant an interference call. Only if it was clear that it was enough contact to prevent the goalie from making a save. If there is only a little contact like on the cirelli goal then tough shit
@pmczapczara5332

@@Xstrangis therein is the fine line. 'Just a little'.....just a little high stick, just a little offsides..... Where does it stop? Believe me, I've seen Cooper challenge everything he thought he could overturn. And if the teams were different, he gladly takes the ruling without any complaints. You go watch the game again if you can, watch cirelli making ALOT more contact than that in the first few minutes of the 3rd. There was more than 'just a little contact'. Mabey they should call it more often even if not on a scoring chance. Mabey that would keep them out of the crease. One other just a little. Stamkos acted like he got all his teeth knocked out. The replay showed he only got the soft, padded side of the fingers. Rank embellishment. 4 pp opportunities to zero in one game, seemed unlikely. TB lives by its pp scoring and I don't ever see them waving off a call just because it was "just a little". The only team that takes more dives is Carolina, and that is also because of the potency of their pp. In other words, if all teams take the calls in their favor, you have to accept the ones that the rules define as well. One last thing, cirelli went in ALL ON HIS OWN, practically grabbing the dman in a dance move to make it look like he was being pushed in. Clearly his intent was to make contact and disrupt Bob's focus. That's why the call was correct. He willingly went in, all by himself, made contact. If he had been pushed in, probably would have counted. But that's not how it happened. That was all the difference.

I'm a goalie. Glen "Chico" Resch declared it was open season on goalies in 1978 (when I was a Bantam). Jon Cooper was never a goalie and let's be honest, he was never really a hockey player. His stock in trade is being a cheap dirty coach of a cheap dirty hockey team/thugs & goons (t&g) now complaining about the refs/rules and the other cheap dirty team. He is NOT a hockey player BUT he IS definitely an NHL'er!
