@sergiomendoza4850

He recognized how Lyoto was beating him that’s why. Every great fighter makes adjustments and Jon’s very high IQ is due to him watching every single fight his opponents have ever had and just studying it non stop till the moment they step in the cage. It’s not even so much strategy I think he just kinda instinctively knows what to do and how to get his win. Especially during his prime , this particular era is when he openly said on Joe Rogan that he used to get WASTED the entire week leading up to his fights just to give himself an excuse INCASE he lost.

Early in the first round Rogan say regarding Machida's blitz on Jones, that it was the hardest and cleanest Jones ever got hit. Play it back on slow speed, that left from Machida didnt even hit Jones lol, it totally missed him. There was a second blitz at the end of the round and Machida threw like 6 punches. This times he did hit Jones but only once and it was not very powerful. Jones was so goddamn dominate that this was considered a great offensive attack because back then no one could do anything to this kid. Listen i am not even a Jones fan, Im a die hard Shogun fan. Jones back when he had killer instinct was the best fighter I ever saw, period. Machida just two fights earlier was thought as being almost unbeatable, The Machida Era. Jones literally destroyed him.
@son_gohan__4725
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, totally agree with that. Joe's eyes were completely betraying him here. That left didn't connect. Machida was definitely the first opponent who didn't appear to be fazed by Jones' reach, but in the end, he merely landed some insignificant shots and got finished very early.
@gjesus051
2 жыл бұрын
That was actually the third major blitz and they weren't talking about the left hook. They were talking about the body kick that Machida hit Jones with which actually did hit him clean and produced a huge slap sound. He then hit Jones again with a solid left hook from the last major blitz from the 1st round which actually made Jones get off balanced and even the slowed down replay showed that it did hit him clean. That is why Jones's corner immediately started to think of a counter to Machida's blitz because they realized that his blitz was problematic and had to be countered.
@ProofScopes

Jones actually lost the first round. Machida stole the round with his offense and counter striking and I’m pretty positive it’s the first round Jones ever lost in the UFC so we have to give Machida props for that. Jon had to make adjustments in the second round, but that’s why he’s the best. 🙏🏼

I think Lyoto saw the other side after that choke. Was probably floating through a tunnel to the afterlife. Yet, got sent back to earth.

That was by far the best choke submission ever. The most brutal finish, the way he drops him to the canvas. Looked like he was dead.

Machida had been putting up a great fight, closing the distance on Jones and counterpunching quickly. It is enough for them to go to the floor for Jones to bring out all his ability. But still great Machida fight

How someone can strike from a motionless stance like that is terrifying. Machida doesn't dance around or wind-up in any way. Just sniper shoots you out of nowhere. There is nobody else like The Dragon who hits you the way he does.

Actually heard a sick commentary moment when I was watching jones vs Gustafson fight. They said that they weren't really sure if Jon could take bombs until this particular fight. After they saw him take some serious strikes from machida they knew he had some grit. That's how they knew Gustafson had to hit him hard to put him down

Forgive the multi comments but I just have to say; With these 2 on the mics & Big John in the middle it seems to make even the most elevated, marquis match ups, into an even more epic or biblical or consequential an event than they already are. Even a confrontation such as this, with 2 Legends, in what was once the worlds greatest city&country, would be diminished were any of the 3 absent. I miss Goldy like crazy. I love Rogan, but I feel Goldy somehow drew out the best that Joe possessed on any given night when they worked together👍😁❤️🇨🇦🍻
