In this exclusive interview from War in the Bay 5 at Legendz Boxing in San Jose, Jonathan Avalos opens up about his previous fight and the unexpected challenges he faced. Avalos recalls the dramatic moment when he tore his meniscus early in the fight, an injury that came as a shock despite rigorous training and preparation. Despite his best efforts to continue, the injury ultimately forced him out of the bout, leaving him and his team with unanswered questions about the incident.
Avalos reflects on the intense circumstances surrounding his fight against pro MMA fighter Joe Throw. With only two weeks' notice due to previous opponents dropping out, Avalos and his team had to quickly devise a strategy to handle a well-prepared and formidable opponent. The plan was to close the distance and keep Throw at bay, but unfortunately, the injury cut their game plan short. This experience, he explains, has given him a deeper appreciation for the unpredictability and intensity of professional fighting.
Looking ahead, Avalos is focused on training smarter rather than harder. Acknowledging that he's not as young as he once was, he's prioritizing technique and cardio to ensure he's in top form for his next fight. With renewed determination and a strategic approach, he’s ready to face the challenges of the upcoming bout. Wish Jonathan luck at next fight, "War In The Bay 5" , set to take place on July 20th, at Legendz Boxing Club.
