this is an absolutely fucking brilliant song. the album is spectacular. it sounds like the best of mid 70's psych-folk but there is no need to compare it to any other bands because it stands alone as a reminiscent yet fresh and original sound.

Ben Burton So very well said. Yes. JW is pretty close to it, for me, musically. Every record he puts out is brilliant. At least to my mind they are. And then there’s his touring with Tom a Petty, producing music by Roger Waters and having killer (people in the know might call it legendary) Laurel Canyon parties. Crosby and Nash stopping over to jam. I mean...wow! 🤙🏼❤️🌞

This song began playing on the NPR station while my son screamed in his car seat. He suddenly stopped crying, then began to cry again when it ended. So I took note of this but dismissed it as a fluke. Since then when we drive (he hates being in the car seat) I play it on repeat and he will stay calm. When I stop playing it he freaks out again. So, who cares what I think of this song? My 15 week old apparently loves it!! Thank you!!

Wow - strange freaky video. It reminds me somehow of Carlos Castaneda's shamanic experiences. Wonderfully creative stuff, with some fine influences such as early Pink Floyd, America, Eagles, Gillian Welch (in my estimation)! The music has a valuable spiritual meaningfulness and humility. It is greatly adding to the quality of my Springtime 2012 experience, here in the UK. Thank you, Jonathan and friends!

Fuzzy white haze in the asphalt was a lake And the sand it was a grayish shade of blue Spirits held desire While my eyes they did admire The evening that we only thought we knew Further out to see I heard the birds wings over me The vibrations in the air through my ears The sun was rising slinking low The day was saddled up to go The desert's lonely nightfall disappear The raven who flies through the desert sky Is wiser than you or me The birds have a peace The stillness a sleeve And the desert raven he has poetry Close your eyes and fly to let the diamonds make the night Crystal blue will turn to ruby red The plants become a maze under the heavens starry hazel Pegasus he gallops over head The buffalo at night they follow close the river's edge while Saffron slowly grows inside the cage The starry minds of hyacinth the moon below the sun's eclipse The sandy canyon floats beyond the wave The raven who flies through the desert sky Is wiser than you or me The birds have a peace The stillness a sleeve And the desert raven he has poetry
