One of the most wonderful things about being 59 is this. I heard, saw and drank in the music of legends like Joni Mitchell. I soak it in like a sponge. I just introduced my 5 year old granddaughter to Joni Mitchell today. At 5 my grandchild is just like me.She love the sound of such a sweet voice. So i taught her"The circle game" just 10mins.She had it.Then i heard her telling "Alex, play Joni Mitchell ".At 5 and in first class at school my mum was told by the nuns " keep her singing ". I did.My children are singers and now my grandchildren.I am very proud to say Joni Mitchell is from Irish blood. Im Irish and very proud. Music has got me through hell.To be privileged to have lived parallel to amazing singers, songwriters and musicians like Joni Mitchell has been a gift and i hope i have passed that gift on to two generations. ☘

I met Sue on open mic night at a Tacoma bar in 1977. She was playing guitar, singing this song and looking right at me. I drummed up the courage to ask her to play while I tried to sing Carolina In My Mind. Totally agree, I’ve always been a huge Joni fan from day one...showing my age here, but I feel with the years and life’s experiences and admittedly the smoking, that her voice became full of emotion and yes, wisdom. In the context of the rest of the lyrics, how is this line anything but a glowing complement? I know the lover's split up but she still pines for him so; one example: I remember that time you told me you said "Love is touching souls" Surely you touched mine 'Cause part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh I could drink a case of you darling And I would still be on my feet I would still be on my feet
