Ooohhh, what an album! And she's playing my favourite song... I like the whole concept of the title song, like to imagine that summer night as she drives through the dark road and contemplating things..

24 years ago, & she speaks truth.... For the complete & fascinating interview, type in "rencontre avec Joni Mitchell"

Agree with what you say there. And "people need to strengthen themselves and their compassion. We've got hard times coming" - wow, how perceptive of J.M. in 1991...

I think that's what she's referring to. People who had a voice and an opportunity to speak out failed to do so.

Thanks! The interviewer is Tracey MacLeod, coincidentally the same woman who conducted the interviews with JM on the BBC 'The Late Show' uploads I did. Tracey is now food critic for The Independent newspaper in the UK. The 2 shows ('The Late Show' and 'Rapido') were unrelated.

@JonnyBoyMach2 I dont think Joni was being underhand, just said it like it was, with some humour.

ALL music and albums in the 1980s and 1990s (except for some grunge) sounded VERY cheesy. EVEN Joni Mitchell sounded cheesy. It was so lame growing up in the 1980s (being born in 1965) - we missed the 1960s and ended up with many young Republican friends. When I was 19 in 1985, I ended up looking back to the REAL music I missed out on - Hendrix, Beatles, Kinks etc....

Wow. Completely dumbstruck by the last bit about Suzanne Vega. I don't recall her ever sniping at Joni Mitchell. I don't think she snipes at anyone really. That was a little ungratious . .

Not true! She said JM is superficial. What a laugh!

@JonnyBoyMach2 Yes I do agree, it seems like a bit of a low blow. Dissing somebody in public seems disingenuous of JM. On the other hand her comment "Hard times coming" seems more relevant than ever.
