Hahaha I hope Europe doesn’t burn either 🤣 I don’t know if the house is a reference to Europe or not 😅 But yeah it’s a song and beat that is staying in the head a lot. Even though it’s not in English still possible to sing parts of it
@TheDiesh
7 ай бұрын
The house is a reference to the pain of losing both his parents at the age of 12 and 13. It's time for him to let go of the pain. Plus he is full circle now because as a kid he used to watch Eurovisiesongfestival with his parents and he told them he would be up on that stage! His dad told him that he has no boundaries and borders, so go for it. The whole song is an ode to his father!

Little bit of background on Joost. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not get stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation.

Joost is from my region in The Netherlands (Friesland). Even though I'm not always a fan of his music, I really like this entry. It's fun, quirky, catchy. The dance break style is called gabber, a popular hardcore techno sub-genre from The Netherlands that was popular in the 90s. Even my mom likes this song, and she never likes any "current" music, so that says a lot. 🤣 We're proud of what he has achieved! The last part gave me goosebumps, it's so touching knowing that his parents passed away when he was young.
@georgikanevESC

Yes the last part is literally showing how no matter what he does he always thinks of his parents. Very sweet Hahah well I think it indeed says a lot if your mum likes the song and she never liked any haha. Well I hope then when you sit and watch with your mum you both will be happy with the results :)

The people at the table indeed include S10 and the guy next to him at the right is Maradonnie and he helped him write the song. Also the guy in the car is DJ Paul Elstak and he made the heavy (happy harcore) part in the end of the video.

I needed this review desperately 🤣🤣🤣. First of all, I will help you out with some questions and info. The name is pronounced with the O as in Ghost, so a large O. Secondly, his father died and the end, which actually made me cry, refers to his father who taught him to have a wide view of the world and that there are no borders. Also, Stien, who is in the video, is a superlovely person, so I wasn't surprised to see her and I loved that. The dancepart, a lot of people don't know, but the dancestyle is called: hakken. It's a rave dancestyle invented in the tecnoworld in The Netherlands and it has recently came back. And last but not least, Joost is friends with Käärija, no surprise, right? And then, do I like the song...? Honestly, I am not sure yet 😂😂😂😂 I am still absorbing it 😂😂😂 I like the song, it is the typical silly Dutch song that all Dutchies sing from the top of our lungs in the pubs with a beer in our hands. So will it be a hot in Holland, no doubt about it 😂😂😂. I also love that it's in Dutch and I like the message. But am I in love? No. Not yet? Might be. Maybe, after all the crazy things that we have already seen I am like, ok, another crazy upbeat song. Though I must say, and we might not agree here, I prefer this instead of Windowsman....
