Does Peterson ever actually state his own argument or just sit back and shake his head at the mean atheists like a toddler who can’t be reasoned with?
@petergieg4560
16 минут бұрын
I watched the whole thing and I think his only actual argument was "it doesn't matter if God is real because the world would immediately be thrown into chaos if everyone decides He isn't". But I could definitely be wrong about that; he spent a lot of time making the argument as convoluted as possible.

"How do you know life is better than death" is pseudo-intellectual pedantic bullshit and shouldn't be considered a serious question by anyone at anytime
@G-SuSderProfi

Hmm I don‘t agree with this, while I am an atheist myself, I believe that for the sake of strict philosophy/within philosophy as a strict discipline we must question everything at its axioms, so even questioning for example why something is evaluated as good, or how someone forms their values from presupposed definitions is simply part of the philosophical process. This is also one of the major problems I have with Sam Harris as he simply skips any questioning of his axioms, although this is precisely what defines the struggle to form an „absolute/objective morality“. If the struggle for proper axioms wasn‘t important, there wouldn‘t have been a crisis all over mathematics and logic when Gödel published his incompleteness theorem

It's so easy and fashionable these days, to throw one word insults at a person and imagine you have somehow constructed a clever rebuttal of that person. It is very lazy. Religion/faith etc is Peterson's Achilles heel for sure. In that respect I think he lets himself down, badly. But he has many valid and inciteful opinions on a wide variety of issues besides religion. Regardless of your dislike of him, to dismiss him as "a joke" or "a fraud" says a lot more about you than him. Btw, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool atheist.

Matt is logically inconsistent here. In order to be able, to make the decision to change the moral foundations, one should have a metric to measure their performance, but the metric itself needs those foundations.

We will not accept Jesus - We will not take ourselves by the neck and confront ourselves but our own sin. - We don't believe in sin. - We want a different and freer outlook on life. Are we supposed to be able to understand the big things in the Universe easily before we even understand the smallest thing about ourselves? Sorry. DOESN'T WORK. It will be like building a house and starting with the top floor. No one in the history of mankind has so far been able to do that, nor can it be done in any figurative sense. Forget faith! Christianity is psychology, and as Moses made a metal serpent for a pole which he erected and those of his people who looked at the serpent were healed of their fear of snakes and their snakebites. And in a similar way we are healed of our sin and destructive psychology, by looking up to Christ on the Cross. WHY? Because then we see all the human misjudgments that led to him hanging there. Bad enough just that. It's called: Self-knowledge. But even worse is that we look up at a spiritual level beyond our comprehension. And when people see it, they flee in wild panic. Just try for yourself and confront people with what they don't understand, haven't learned and can't do. A sure way to get all the enemies you want. I have tried it many times, and I LOVE it. THAT is the reaction man has to spiritual awakening and spiritual development: All defenses are activated.

There's no righteousness in any divisive, unequal or subjugating (master and minion) hierarchical system, ideology, doctrine, regime or pyramid system...especially where there is no real accountability or justice for those at the top ...who break their own laws, rules or commandments ...or selfrighteously proclaim they are above or have special rights and exemptions!
