He willfully misinterprets the concept of the “environment”. He knows damn well what people are referring to, and he feigns ignorance to seem more credible. Do you publish in the area of evolutionary psychology? If not, your commentary here is also "outside your areas of expertise". Your having "ventured into the realm of evolutionary psychology" to counter Peterson would seem to put you in the same position as him. You would in all likelihood lack the nuanced understanding necessary to actually refute him. You should find a researcher to judge Peterson's positions, keeping in mind that his statements may sometimes be trying to note how things are, while not necessarily proclaiming that they should be that way. Claiming that things are a certain way and they won't ever change is not the same as endorsing them.

He then goes on to say maybe you should worry about your own shit instead of pretending to understand or be able to influence something as complex as the entire environment, when you still live with your parents, which is a perfectly solid argument. He then goes on to say that once you are competent enough and have sorted out your own life, you can then broaden your scope into bigger things (this is advice for people who are depressed and worried about things they cannot control.)

@@jamieholland3853why can’t they do both? I mean if a depressed individual cares about anything it is a good starting point. Not Peterson fan, per se, though I give credit or credit is due when you get something right. However I have noticed that you have strawman his positions in some places, and used moral telepathy to impute things he never said, by saying he implies it or infer it. But this is logically a projection on your part. Furthermore once you started going into pseudoscience with gender ideology, you jump the shark. That is the moralistic fallacy that you committed and contrast of the naturalistic fallacy you accused Peterson of committing. There are two sides of that coin and if he’s violated, you have certainly violated the other in this video. I’m only 2/3 of the way through and already sided gender non-binary identities as if they were scientific fact rather than an ideological and socially constructed fantasy, usually as a coping mechanism for psychological trauma, as a way to dissociate oneself from one’s identity and run away From it. I will continue to watch the rest of the video and see what other points you make, but already I feel as if the logic train has derailed.

However, it's worth noting that many might lack awareness regarding their peak fertility age. An ideology comes with a strong delusion, such as one refusing to acknowledge the horror of allowing children to castrate themselves. Jordan Peterson is popular because he's saying what most people are thinking; people, that is, who are not ideologically bound to say nonsense instead.

@joachim847 your point is that you have an ideology and youre too ashamed to admit it, so youre taking it for granted using the naturalistic/popularity fallacies. Traditional gender roles obviously are not static across cultures or time, they are products of material conditions and, say it with me, ideology.

mmmmh im not so convinced- I know that all of this is very complicated and yes Peterson is absolutely oversimplifying a lot....but im 35 now and what I learned from debating gender is that I prefer an oversimplified solid answer- that is one at least -with exceptions to that rule then no answer at all by saying everything can be everything-so everything is nothing at all in the end? I will always respect a human being for its pure existence- but I will never say a woman can be or shud be everything and call this freedom. women are nothing -or a feeling- or dresses-or just birthing machines at best? I feel freedom in being, having maybe unfitting rules to break and some to follow-better than anarchy - and its ideologised image that misfits want average ppl to see right now. one human can't analyze its human self- one can't and a species can't understand itself as a group in all of evolutionary details-but we can look back and see what worked and didn't worked out for us-to burn everything down is the wish of a delusional small portion of humanity-we shud not listen to them- they prefer nonexistence and confusion and are building freedom on taking other ppl freedom away. critically seen u are not wrong about what ur points are-but u just proofed that Peterson or his viewpoints cud be wrong so the other side must be right somehow. I just can't believe that anymore-rant over lol-greetings from berlin.

You don't recognize your own hypocrisy. You are doing the same thing you say he's guilty of, so what does that say about you? You've also taken many of these clips out of context. This won't age well. Human nature is natural, though not inevitable as evolution would alter it. Also to argue that acting to defend one's own group is misusing the "science" is truly silly. It's instinctive, therefore resonates immediately when heard. Nobody would argue that euthanizing a rabid pet dog to save your family is wrong even if you initially accepted that pet into your home. In other words, with all the word salad, kowtowing and virtue signalling that we're above base instincts, at the end of the day we are all animals, smart animals but nonetheless, our survival requires a biological survival imperative. I'm no JBP fan, but sometimes he's correct. Utopian ideas will never beat base instincts.

Animals are not capable of rational thought and decision making. They act purely on instinct and survival, HUMANS act on THOUGHT and EMOTION, carefully choosing of what will be the best outcome for us and our happiness, health, momentary or lasting benefit, “is this the best option?” “ will it make me feel good?” etc. not to mention societies animals built are not based off top down power of money, culture, art, capitalism, racial differences, sex & gender and man made LAWS that benefit the wealthy that all shape our human society. There are actual smart animals and then there are smart humans. Saying humans are just “smart animals” alongside the statement “I’m not a fan of JP but a lot of what he says is correct” is misanthropic at best and alarming at worst.😬

Oh my dude... When Peterson is speaking about heirarchies, he's explaining the phenomenon as an "is", not an "ought", meaning that it's just what happens - not how he wants it to be. You pointing out Besos, Gates and Musk is an example of the pareto principle which is a natural phenomenon... If you put in an honest effort here, I think you would have come across him explaining paretos. You should really put in a solid attempt to first understand POVs you disagree with so you can properly critique them rather than poll your subs to see how they feel about a figure before trying to appease the majority with a weak attempt.
@Inhumanform

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I always enjoy reading your comments because I feel you make excellent points that challenge my reasoning. Regarding the use of Bezos, Gates, and Musk as examples, I aimed to illustrate extreme concentrations of wealth and power within our current societal structures. As for Peterson, he supports Musk, oil corporations, and patriarchal social structures (mentioned in the Skavlan interview). This information can help you determine whether he is merely commenting on what "is" or endorsing the status quo. He frequently advocates for capitalist systems in interviews, but I assume you are already familiar with this. However, I do disagree with your statement on the Pareto principle being a natural phenomenon in economics, as there is plenty of literature suggesting otherwise. It's crucial to understand that societies can mitigate these effects, as resource distribution is a result of human-made systems and policies. If the effects of the Pareto Principle are undesirable, we have both the ability and democratic duty to change these outcomes.

@@InhumanformThanks for the response. Can you estimate how much time you spent listening to Peterson's material? I have listened to numerous lectures of his over years and am confident you are misrepresenting his views. He has clearly indicated (in several lectures/interviews) he doesn't "like" capitalism, but feels it's the best option we have found thus far because artificially manipulating things to achieve a certain outcome has proven to do more harm than good, citing multiple examples throughout history of why things like communism, socialism, totalitarianism, fascism has garnered death tolls in the millions - all the result of someone who thinks they know how to "solve" something artificially rather than letting things fall out naturally. The Pareto principle actually occurs in nature itself, it's not just an economic principle, whether you disagree or not. Your own comments about it here seem to indicate that it's real but should be manipulated? 🤷♀️ Again, misrepresenting arguments you haven't taken the time to fully understand is disingenuous. You should understand them first, then disprove - if you can. Just like Peterson says - when you have a theory about something, you should look for ways to dismantle & break it, not rely on the comforts of confirmation bias.... That said, I feel he's a tough one to critique - if one is not misrepresenting his arguments. Still, I was hoping you had something real to share here.

For me it seems you dont actually understand what he is actually saying. Because i have listened to him and nothing of what he actually says is in any agreement with what you say he is saying. Its taken out of context and it also shows that you arent willing to actually try to listen and understand. In order to actually listen, you cant allow for your preconceived notions to take hold over you, you dont try to object what you are trying to do is understand what they are saying, even if they bring up things you disagree with. In order to listen you have to quiet your mind, if you feel anything either positive or negative you are not listening you are simply agreeing or disagreeing in that moment so what words that comes out next you almost implicitly agree or disagree with, but it colors the meaning of what they were trying to say, so you end up at the wrong point. And even worse your understanding of evolutionary psychology is at the very best naive or dumb. And then you manage to say the dumbest thing i have heard today "that we are solely shaped by our biological inheritance" and you also say that you have tried to listen to him. Im sorry was he speaking in a different language? Or did you suddenly fail to understand actual english? Well it has to be one or the other, because he never said that, what he said was that our evolutionary psychology will to some degree color our perceptions. What he didnt say was "that our evolutionary psychology will determine your psychology today" So you are actually saying you agree with him? Then you manage to say that our evolutionary psychology faces a mismatch with our hierarchies, so you agree with him again. Then you say that in our history our sociteties were egalitarian, did you go to school in a box of cornflakes? All i can say, is this, you never managed to listen to him, either because you are too naive to do it, or because you are to dumb to do it, i would hate for it to be the latter. Im sorry you are either 5 years old or way to dumb, i am halfway through the video and you havent said a single word against what his stance is, now that is remarkable. You also contradict yourself, on one hand you say egalitarian societies, and then you say that they werent. Even worse and maybe more stupid, you bring up problems but offer no single solution, even worse bring up a solution that will work. Im sorry by now i feel rather forced to write you off as dumb and i dont want that to that. Then you bring up the falsehood online, so you do agree with him after all? I sincerely hope you did less then 5 hours of research. Right now all i see is the limitations to your understanding of what he is saying. I just have to say that you are incredibly dumb, you think its based on one study that you managed to find? Well that is wrong there are over 100 studies and if my memory serves Jordan Peterson cites at least 7 of them. Then Jordan Peterson says its cultural and evolutionary psychology aka biology, which further shoots yourself in the foot saying that he reduces everything into evolutionary biology, did you even read your script before you made this video? No the studies supports that claim and you come up with a "nahh ahh". well done, better counter argument i have never heard. Then you say that peterson advocates for traditional gender roles where he does nothing of the sort, what he says is "that we dont know what to do about it" by now im hoping your research was less then 4 hours. Then you further fail to understand how the big five can contribute to different behavior of men and women which will lead to different gender roles. Im sorry i have to stop now, i have tried to listen to level earth observer but i cant because everything he says is just so completely wrong. Just as you are about what Jordan Peterson is actually saying. I sincerely hope you make a video far less wrong in the future, maybe about how we know the moon is made of a very rare red cheese in france. I mean it would be wrong but not as wrong as this video.
