This isn't funny any more, Cathy Newman has received multiple death threats like this: "Ms. Newman, as a regular Channel 4 viewer I am extremely disappointed by your conduct during your recent interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson. You have brought shame on your profession and should be fired forthwith." "So you're saying you're going to hunt me down and slaughter me in a ritualistic honour killing?"

chesshooligan 1 so what you’re saying is that because men have blue helmets, women earn 9% less dollars than CEOs?
@chesshooligan1282
6 жыл бұрын
No, what I'm saying is it's a well-known fact that the male CEOs of every single helmet-manufacturing company in the world had a secret meeting sometime in the 90s and said, "Screw profits, let's just make pink helmets more expensive because fuck women. All right, guys?" And they all said, "Yeah, great idea." The female CEOs of helmet-manufacturing companies were naturally not invited to the meeting, and shortly after they were mysteriously replaced by male CEOs. True story.

The problem is that she thinks that men who get to the top haven't had to struggle. That is why she believes there should be no hurdles for women getting to the top.
@177SCmaro
6 жыл бұрын
TriplePalindromous More than that, she, like all feminists and western culture in general, believes, perhaps instinctively, that all hurdles and hardship of any kind should be removed from women's path through life; as though women are merely leafs floating along a river and to ensure nothing harms them, all the rocks and tree branches and any other dangers or challenges must be cleared (by men) from the river beforehand for them. It's actually pretty unintentionally misogynistic on Newman's part (and society in general) as she is making what seems like a largely unconscious assumption that women are weak and/or objects without agency - that things have to be gotten for women rather than women getting things and overcoming challenges for themselves. Adversity build strength and character. Having things gotten for you breeds weakness and entitlement - traits that are describing more and more men and especially women, sadly.
@Elechte

Of course the men didn't have to struggle, since it's all men at the top... Obviously that works somehow. If men had to struggle to reach the top... women would be above men... because they're superior. But also equal.

I mean, look at the conversation we’re having right now. You’re certainly willing to risk offending me in the pursuit of truth. Why should you have the right to do that? It’s been rather uncomfortable. You’re doing what you should do, which is digging a bit to see what the hell is going on. And that is what you should do. But you’re exercising your freedom of speech to certainly risk offending me, and that’s fine. More power to you, as far as I’m concerned.”- JP

*“Why should your right to freedom of speech trump a trans person’s right not to be offended?”* Because my right to swing my fist stops at your nose, not the edge of my own shirt. I have the right to free speech. And you have the right to not get offended. Any time you want, you can just choose, "You know, I could get offended and start screaming epithets, but I'm going to be an adult today and actually engage with the argument and consider my position rationally." Well, I say that, but that's being somewhat ableist. You have the right to do that, but as an SJW or a feminist you might not have the ability to employ reason, so I'm sorry if I've hit your particular handicap.
@Muck006

Well put William Barnes and I think Peterson knows this too, because he has this part about "good people being CAPABLE of becoming a monster BUT KEEPING IT UNDER CONTROL." Cathy Newman and other feminists like her ARE MONSTERS (lashing out and screeching and generally blaming others but never themselves) without the ability to control it, they are monsters all the time! Thus feminists are children who havent grown up and learned SELF-CONTROL and RESPONSIBILITY ... which are two traits we dont teach kids anymore! Cathy Newman is still a toddler!

Working life is hell for women because it's full of men who hate and harass you and legally pay you less for the same work." If everyone around you said that, how would you react?" This hit close to home for me. This self-victimization culture fosters paranoia against men and of growing up and taking responsibility for your life. I personally still struggle with these perceptions hammered into me. I was surprised to hear during the interview that Jordan Peterson's audience is predominantly male, because women who grew up with this backwards and unfounded message could really learn a thing or two from his lectures.

The 'hurdles' section around the eight-minute mark really nails this equality issue. If you don't want girls to be put off of striving for a top role then don't keep telling them there are hurdles in their way and a hostile patriarchy that seeks to keep them down! My eldest daughter is taking her GCSE's at the moment. Her school does everything possible to encourage her and the plan is to work towards enrolling in a top university & I have every faith that she will. As far as I can tell NO hurdles are being thrown up in her way. I'm certainly telling her that if she works hard & applies herself that she has all the ability to succeed. It's up to her, but her friends, family and teachers are all supporting her. Thankfully she has enough brain cells to be skeptical about the new wave feminist victim narrative. She has been brought up in an environment where lively political debate between myself (a more conservative minded, yet liberal in many ways father) and her left-leaning mother is common around the dinner table. She has really impressed me with her ability for nuanced thought and though she does not always agree with my views, she at least listens and considers them before presenting her own well thought out thoughts. That's not to say she's completely immune to the PC brainwashing, but by and large she forms her own opinions. Sadly I feel a lot of people in the UK are let down by the education system. They are pumped full of propaganda, instead of just learning the skills needed to think for themselves. This would explain why so many people jump on the feminist victim narrative bandwagon. Sure there are issues that need addressing, but it's always easier to make excuses by blaming others for one own misfortunes. Great video. Was, like, literally ROFLing at points. Subscribed for more.
