His pivot foot was down on what you’re calling a third step. No travel.

Very subtle, but it is a travel. When Jordan came down, his right foot touched the floor first, making it his pivot. He then lifted it and put it down. Travel. Had he landed on both feet, it would have been clean, as he would have established his left as his pivot. Very tough to see, so I can't be too hard on the refs for not catching it, assuming they would ever call a whistle on MJ if they saw it.

@Samuel Bach It's not a travel though. You are claiming that he traveled earlier in the play than the video suggests correct? Either way it wasn't a travel. When he caught the ball his right foot did come down simultaneously with him gaining possession, but his left foot was already on the ground when he caught it so either foot could have been his pivot from that point. His left foot never moved while his right foot did shuffle a bit tight after the catch. That was legal because he could have used either foot as his pivot. If ANYTHING, his right foot would be the foot that cannot be his pivot since it was still moving a bit as he was gaining possession. The left foot stayed anchored the whole time and therefore was never disqualified from being his pivot if he so chose which he did. The only part where traveling even comes into question on this play is when the video claimed he traveled, but even then the video claims that he gathered his dribble before he actually had. Not until his hand went underneath the ball did he gather his dribble, before that his dribble was still live despite being in contact with his hand. His hand did not go underneath the ball until his right foot was already in contact with the floor and then he takes his 2 steps from there before going up for the shot. No travel at all here. Clean play.

@@justsayin669 He gathered with one foot down, his right, making that his pivot at 0:21. Thus, it is a travel when he lifts it up and puts it back on the floor at 0:24.

@@samuelbach1631 I see it as a 2 step move with him still progressing after picking up his dribble. He didn't pick up his dribble, stop moving for a moment, and then take his 2 steps. It was all one continuous 2 step move. As SOON as Jordan ACTUALLY picked up his dribble, his step with his left foot was already in motion. It's not like he stepped with his left foot twice as if to pause and pivot, it was all one smooth 2 step move is how I see it and how the refs apparently saw it.

@@samuelbach1631 The video claims that he picked up his dribble before his right foot came down, but he didn't. He didn't pick up his dribble until his right foot was already touching the floor and arguably not until his left foot was already touching the floor.

This was not a travel. They claim he "gathered" his dribble before he did. Not until his hand went under the ball do his steps start counting and his hand wasn't under the ball until his right foot was already touching the floor. This will never be called traveling live.

Not a travel, the step one count as step zero, the gather ball and landing the foot later is in very grey area, mostly ref is going to allow that, and the game is going very fast and ref eyes is not 4k slow motion, also is a pivot rotation don't count step unless you move your pivot foot.

MJ traveled before faking Starks and Oakley and dunking on Ewing, the epic one.. Close to 3p line, when he handles the ball up with both hands.

Ehh this is borderline no call/travel, you could argue that when he gathers that the first 2 steps were simultaneous and then pivots but yeah in high school/college it should be a travel. So funny how NBA refs now a days have no problem giving out technical fouls yet they rarely ever call travels. Meanwhile the NFL there's a flag on every fing play.

That's too fast for refs to see inreal time. Players do that every time i can show you a lot of nba players getting away with that often. Unlike the travels of today ex: lebron or harden theirs just so obvious.
