Yeah shadowed by Emily Blunt's NEEDLESS character in this film, this writer's two best features, Sicario and Wind River suffer from the need to shoehorn in a vulnerable rookie female when the themes of those selfsame films prevent the women from even having an important role in the film. I feel like her performance was great but realistically (and Sicario is very realistic) they would already have a top tier female operator on the same level as the "Wolf"

Sometimes dark, depressing film sets need a little levity or humor between scenes, lol. It reminds me of interviews with Patrick Stewart where he tried to take things WAY too overly-seriously in the beginning of TNG, yelling at the crew and treating them as children for trying to joke or laugh between work. But, he eventually realized he was wrong and realized you can still work seriously and get stuff done while still maintaining some level of levity/fun that helps ease the tension and ultimately can result in an overall more productive film/TV set at the end of the day when done right ;)
