I am not always proud to be a southerner. This is the first time I heard that Josh Gibson was from Georgia. His story is so inspiring and uplifting. I thank God that I live in these times when the ideas of liberty and justice can truly be for All. That will continue to be a fight but All things are possible with God the creator of All humans.

They said that he knocked a ball out of Yankee Stadium to straight away left field. He also out-homered Babe Ruth in barnstorming Allstar games vs the Major League Allstars for the Negroe League Allstars.

Having been a fan during the dark days of the steroid days of the ‘90s and ‘00s, and watching men like Rose, Gwynn and Ripken doing it the right way, it saddens me to this day that there were men that played the right way for the right reason that were not allowed to play in the major leagues for no other reason than simply because of the color of their skin.

People often say the players of the first half of the Major Leagues were the greatest of all-time. I think that’s impossible with the simple fact that half the players were excluded. Think of the white players that blacks would have replaced. Today we could have been calling Babe Ruth the white Josh Gibson.

I presume you witnessed him play, when seasoned baseball people, black and white who actually played with and against him, who saw him play in the height of his career all but unanimously testify to his greatness, you the great baseball guru gonna judge someone you've never seen play nor was you probably wasn't even born (unless you're about 100) at the time, it's weak to try to tarnish another man's life accomplishments with no backup to your claim, that's real small, but one thing we have in common, we're both not in Google or Wikipedia or you tube, etc. Strangely Mr. Gibson is and by the date of my post, is still remembered. It not his fault racism restricted him from playing in the majors, somethings and some people never change.
