All new head coaches have the same time frame. Your 'new head coach' argument doesn't hold much water: TCU went 5-7, CU won by 3 (Year 2 head coach) Nebraska went 5-7, CU won by 22 (New head coach) Colorado State went 5-7, CU won in OT by 8 (Year 2 head coach) Arizona State went 3-9, CU won by 3 (New head coach) Deion brought a few people with him from Jackson State. He _chose_ the portal method. It's not like it even mattered; the kids, regardless if they'd been at CU or not, had to learn Deion's way. The biggest difference is that Deion bragged about going 15-0 year one.

Colorado was devoid of elite talent but they were far from being "completely deprived of talent." A "lack of talent" wasn't the main reason they went from a proud program to a conference doormat. Don't forget that Deion also brought a lot of talent with him from JSU. However, the casual who wrote the tweet missed the differences between how Norvell and Kiffin used the portal versus Deion. Deion decided he was going to clean house before he did any assessments of what he had. The number of portal players he acquired reflect that mindset: 52 players in 2023 and 42 players in 2024. Norvell started during the height of the COVID pandemic and couldn't visit high schools in Florida and Georgia even if only to meet the coaches there, let alone their recruits. Norvell did an assessment of what he had and decided the only way to turn the program around and get it out of its slump was via the portal. Especially in recruiting linemen straight from high school who need from two to three years to develop into P4 caliber players. However, Norvell was more selective in who he took from the portal. Here are the numbers of portal players taken since 2020: 2020 10 2021 12 2022 14 2023 12 2024 17 ------------- Total = 65 With improvements on the field,. Norvell has been able to increase the number (and quality) of HS recruits in addition to portal players starting from 2021 to 2024 (2020 was Willie Taggart's class): 2021 17 2022 17 2023 19 2024 23 -------------- Total = 76 Norvell will continue to use the portal to compliment his recruiting classes but after going 13-0 in the regular season, the emphasis will be on long-term stability.

Deion, hit the reset button. They took less portal players this year, they’ll take less portal players next year. 1-11 and losing by an average of 22 points when Deion took over. The comparison is Jed Fisch at Arizona, who went 1-11, 5-7, 10-2 after taking over a bad Wildcats teams. Deion, has outperformed him year 1 and based on Vegas odds he’s gonna outperform him year 2. So, how is this model not working. If Buffs win 7 or 8 games they’ll crush prep recruiting. Heavens the thought if they win 9 games what it would mean to high school recruiting. Alas, no matter what by midseason with the Buffs performing, Josh and the SEC homers will begin the dialogue of Deion going to a different program at season’s end.

Less portal players uhhhh beg to differ this year 42 incoming is still a astronomically large amount and the most in College Football. CU could crush high school recruiting yes, but they resist... currently have 6 recruits in for the 2025 class and ignore the hot bed high school areas ie..California, Texas and Florida. The theme or mantra that if they win 7/8 games this year players will flock to CU is kinda a absurd statement...I dont see high school players flocking to CU after all the high ratings on tv games or the many social media channels after last year which is kinda alarming. No need to compare to a coach that rebuilt Arizona in 3 years completely not needed. If your going to compare to the former Arizona coach now at Washington, he and his staff have the #18 recruiting class in the entire country and have 7 four-star players. Completely different than CU, build and sustain for the future rather than short term. This model for CU is not sustainable because each year you have to re-up in the portal heavy and eventually high school kids will say why would I go there if you your just going to bring in a 5th year senior to start ahead of me after I just had a great freshmen/sophomore season. CU currently is upperclassmen heavy... could that work time will tell.

@@Drew-oj1qd your kidding right. So, the Buffs have the 4th highest regular season tv viewership (with a 4-8 record) and a large following on social media… means you “don’t” see this as a draw to high school players? Wow. Okay, pretty sure nobody agrees with you there. Secondly, yes, I do see the Buffs recruiting more high school players next year.. especially, if they field a 7 or 8 win season. It mean they have a base, and can start developing high school players as they already have established team. They had to start from practically zero player and rebuild a roster. If they win 7 or 8 games… they don’t need to recruit as many players for the portal. Deion isn’t going to have a problem recruiting high school players.. he just needed to have a base. And, yes.. comparing coaches rebuild is totally applicable. Fisch went a more traditional route and we can see results (which were impressive) and we can see Deion’s approach and it’s indisputable that his strategy outperformed Fisch’s in year one. Let’s see how year 2 goes, but for me, I suspect Prime outperforms in year 2. So, no. I don’t think your points or thought process have merit.

He did that. Y’all ignored that. He then said he would revamp the O and D lines. He did that. Then he said he aimed to bring in freshman to a productive culture and lockeroom. Freshman have been interested more this year than any other year. I don’t see how you can know and see his every move yet be dumb to what you are seeing. It’s crazy. Ole Miss HAD to use the portal because star players like Quinshon Judkins said “i’m out!” and they had to refill the position. Florida State had to because they’re still able to win the top heavy ACC. they lost all their seniors and super seniors, the QB they had before DJ was garbage, their OL needed to be refilled, defensive positions as well. Y'all keep saying its because they went 1-11 in 2022. Ok they went 4-8. And 3 of the 4 games were one score wins so it coud've easily been 1-11 again. Winning big doesn't happen immediately. It takes hs players and multi-year development. Instead of taking hs players who he coudve coached and developed for multiple years he took transfers who stay for 1-2 years and then leave. The only reason you do that is if you don't plan on staying long term. I think he'll take an analyst job at whatever place his kids go in the nfl next year. Also I think he's a good guy and a good coach, I just think his strategy's wrong for creating a long term winning program. Now if he's planning on leaving after 2 years then what he's doing makes sense.

They also played Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga, and USF(USF got blown out by 4 group of 5 teams). Of your 8 regular season SEC games, only two teams you played were above .500 in conference play. You were never close to winning a natty and you and Texas got into the playoffs because of ESPN bias.
