A Pakistani gay (he/him) who won his battle against his internalIzed homophobia!
In this series, ‘In Pakistan’, I talk about the initial 26 years of my life in Pakistan, including 1 year I spent in the US. In the 1 year I was in the US, I studied in a high school located in Texas.
I spent these 26 years of my life in denial. My upbringing and the society around me didn’t allow me to accept my homosexuality. Even during the one year I lived in the US, I was still in denial because I had become conditioned to think that homosexuality isn’t natural. It is an acquired preference, that can be altered with faith, prayer, medication, abstaining oneself to like men, and forcing oneself to like women.
In these series, I also talk about my first gay celebrity crush and my first love with another boy.
