Maynard has been an idol and inspiration in my life since i was 17, im 35. His lyrics in Aenima intrduced me to Jungian Psychology, which now I have a BA in, and want a MA in Jungian psychology as well. His scarce public showings, i would guess, is his way of saving his own ego, not to feed it too much, then his other psychological goals, inspirations wouldnt have a door, through the subconscious only at best. He's more comfortable, I have to try this wine, oh yes, i have to try this. WOW.

I love how he mentions Bill Hicks. My adoration for both Tool and Bill Hicks makes me excited when I hear or see any relation between the two apart from what I already knew. Third Eye, Bill's re-occuring theory and finally referred to as the opening of the third eye, plays such a large role in AEnima. I know it's not all too relevant in this interview, it just makes me happy.

In my opinion, Maynard was in a different level compared to the other two guys. What I enjoyed the most is when he talked about the monster that we all have. This reality makes me pause every time I see myself as being a good person when at the same time there's also a monster ready to show up at an opportune time. This monster is called self. The problem in this world is the self. If we keep feeding this monster, even the good part of the monster, we are strengthening the whole monster.

"Life your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion, respect others in their view and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long in its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day that you go over the great divide. always give a word or sign of salute when meeting a friend or even passing a stranger when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you rise in the morning give thanks to food and the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones into fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death so when their time comes they weep and pray for more time and to live their lives again over and over in a different way. Instead, sing your death song and die like a hero going home."

Think twice. I'm glad this makes you uncomfortable. Question yourself and your surroundings. Rogan and Maynard would never define this conversation right or wrong. But I think you would be a fool to find it uninteresting or worthless. A lot was said, and it deserves contemplating. Best thing an intelligent human can do is get outside of the comfort zone, and truly listen to the other side.

+Avid Najdahmadi was quoting Maynard's comment to Redban. "I am not very comfortable with this conversation" was his joking response to Brian talking about his girlfriend having APC tattoo.

Nicely put. But there is a misunderstanding. I like the way Maynard lands his comment " I am not comfortable with this conversation" and the conversation about Puscifer name ends. They joke around with him, but respect him as well.
