I was recently shown a handy way to stop engine rotation. Remove a spark plug and stuff a rope into the cylinder.

Rope in the spark plug hole. Single lugnut tire iron in the coupler and a board or pipe between the engine and engine plate. No welding or air tools needed.

I'm not saying that this doesn't work in some cases, but if the coupler is really stuck on, you will shear off every cog on the coupler before it comes off. Heating it up and then using this trick is the safe bet, if you don't want to damage the coupler.

Actually I just installed a new crank and both the coupler end and the magento end are standard threads. You can also see in your video your rotating the coupler to the left to rotate it off. I did use your idea regarding a nut on a piece of steal though!

Rope in the spark plug hole. Single lugnut tire iron in the coupler and a board or pipe between the engine and engine plate. No welding or air tools needed. Unless it has a full circle crank which has a bolt in the middle. For those you remove the bolt and then use a 3 jaw puller to get the coupler off.

+Jovan Hernandez Unfortunately I didn't use yamabond.. I used one of three bond's products.

Additionally, after getting it all back together I took it out for a quick ride. Only to find it bogging out just after 1/3 throttle. So I believe I'm hunting for an air leak. Going to go back through and reseal everything with Yamabond.

jonschuma ok so now you need another product from three bond and its kind of expensive but it will reseal your lower crank... I have it but cant find and don't know where it is.. also don't forget that replacing your seals will make your ski run rich because you wont have extra air coming into the engine.. just ask if you have any questions..

brads3111 Thanks for your reply. I dropped in new seals along with a new crank and new pistons and rings. Additionally, full west coast exhaust along with a L&S racing exhaust manifold. I'm hoping once I reseal anything with Yamabond it will be good to go and ready to rip! Also got some Dakine footstraps on the way.
