Great actor who played many diverse charactors--he should be ranked high on the list of great actors but is wrongly passed over I think because of his political activity later in his life

@@ocsugar True. Chuck Heston was a big hero American liberals until he became a spokesman and then president of the National Rifle Association. As a believer always in personal freedom it was natural he would do so. Did you know he was with Dr. Martin Luther King when King made the "I have a dream speech?" Heston was there with other Hollywood luminaries and before he took the NRA position he was frequently included in the shots of King's entourage. But afterward? Not any more. You'd never know he was there.

"I learn to love him". What a beautiful and loaded dialogue in just five words. It speaks volumes of her love for Ben from her young age and conveying him the same in a more subtle way and make him to ruminate about.

I like the way Tirzah holds back at the top of the steps, to allow Esther to make her entrance, before joining her before Judah, seemingly offering her a silent support.

Exactly. And later Esther is completely relieved to see Tirzah alive and overjoyed when Tirzah is cured by the miracle. They clearly have a special friendship. I bet Tirzah was hoping and hoping that her brother would marry Esther and bring her into the family. She certainly gets her wish! :)

So would I! Haya Harareet was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad Hollywood didn't know what to do with her after "Ben-Hur." So she went home to Israel. She's the last surviving member of the "Ben-Hur" cast now.

Ah, young love and Bible stories. There was a funny scene in Tommy Tune's "My One and Only" play where he's trying to locate his lost love in a mideast harem, and the girls are all wearing veils, so he can't recognize her; , but the harem head sez: "on the other hand, she'd have no difficulty recognizing you.....we don't get too many six foot six white tap dancers in here..."

But in the second half of the film, she is quite opinionated, and they have a big argument. He wants revenge on all of Rome and she rightfully calls him out for talking crazy. When she realizes the mistakes he’s about to make, she says “it’s as though you have become Messala!” right to his face. And ultimately she’s the one who convinces him to avoid that path. None of this ever makes him stop loving or wanting her. Maybe because he respects her as a person and doesn’t mind that she is opinionated and can match him in an argument…just a thought.

It's fictional. It isn't in the Bible. I should add that there is the book Esther in the Old Testament but it's a different Esther.
