Sort of cringing, as the interviewer acts like he's dialoguing with a 50 year old psychologist in family therapy. he's a 22 year old (kid) actor. Surprisingly good answers, though.

Yes although I believe eloquence is a sign of intelligence (unless it's pure rhetoric/bollocks talking but only a few buy that xD) So in a few simple words,he is quite good at delivering his ideas in an impressing way(eloquent) but what he's saying actually makes a lot of sense and gives signs of intelligence and deep thinking. The 1st feature(eloquence) can be developed even if it's nonexistent while the 2nd is definitely in the genes,though it can develop too,but never out of nothing.
@BeatlEPMJo

E.g, at school, if I don't understand a certain scientific concept or law it's harder for me to memorise it by heart and then tell it. But if I understand it myself, it's very easy and I can articulate it comfortably with my own words.

Then I suppose it has to do with the ability to think for oneself, creative thinking, critical thinking, deep thinking and these sort of things. But I believe that no matter what, generally, most ideas or conceptions are a derivation of well known ones. Some people though have the ability to express them differently from the rest, or to give another perspective, or to go deeper in the issue. That's a skill, a talent...and let's not forget Jude is an actor after all, it's in his profession.

Yes, but I'm only talking about things I DO understand. For example, if someone asked me "what is the color green," that's hard. I can tell you about light and pigments, because that's outside of myself, and I've already heard it in words. It's harder to explain the experience of green, because that's way too close to me. It's vision, it's inherent. Similarly, a movie or a play can speak to truths we all know--we'll all be moved, but only some of us will be able to explain why.

yeah! I know exactly what you mean, that's why I'm saying I'm so impressed with his communicative skills :) I guess it's all *intelligence,* I just mean to specify between the skill that he has to speak eloquently, as opposed to his other skill, the comprehension and analysis of text. that's all :)

Well, I don't really put much stock in the role genes play in intelligence. If you ask me, it's probable that most of the stuff he's saying he hasn't just thought up impromptu. They're things he's had months to deliberate on and discuss with other people much older than him anyway. that's why I'm impressed with his communication, because personally I think it's hard to talk about things that you know and understand so thoroughly.

Well you might as well be right about the fact that he's discussed those things with others and many of those ideas have been built by these talks. But I'm supposing the interview is not rehearsed so in any case, it does take intelligence to say the right things at the right moment and not just shove them in the conversation randomly, just because you have something to say and you say all you know, not what you're really asked. Know what I mean?
@peachie0keen
11 жыл бұрын
Well, the way I take in literature is probably different from someone like Jude...but he's talking about themes and truths that you have to glean from the actual text. For someone like me, I'd be able to glean it, but might not be able to put it together into words as quickly as he can. However, if you'd asked me to explain some scientific law, I could do it perfectly, because it was taught to me first, it didn't originate in my head...Does that make sense?

Also, your last sentence doesn't make sense to me. I think talking about thing you are competent about is one of the easiest things to talk about. It'd be hard to talk about things you dont fully know or understand. I for one, feel quite uncomfortable when I have to talk about things I don't fully ''owe''. And as for the intelligence, I strongly believe you're either born with it or not. The demonstration of it is another story though.
