I'm white, and I saw the episode when it first aired on tv. He was rude the entire time, and the parts omitted, from this clip, show that he did act like that man (Plaintiff) was there for his personal use. He also was rude to Judge Mablean the entire time, way before she got angry and this clip started. She was right, and she also made the right decision. I hate how people assume that anytime a minority brings up the word "slavery," that the minority in question is wrong. They tune them out and cry reverse racism. judge Mablean is NOT racist!

I TOTALLY agree with you! And the sad fact is, there ARE jobs where the boss treats thier employees SO badly, that they practically abuse thier power of authority to make the other employees suffer, be it a low as dirt pay, emotional, verbal or pyshical abuse, or worse...! I've seen a top 10 on worst bosses, and they're JUST as bad as this so called boss! One being a woman who gave her kidney to her boss when she needed it, only to be fired by said boss because the employee who helped her wasn't feeling good after the surgery and took off of work to rest, or the craptastic boss who fired a teen delivery boy, because he was getting ready for surgery BECAUSE HE HAD A TYPE OF CANCER THAT WEAKENED HIS SPINE AND AFFECTED HIS BRAIN!

The plaintiff could have worked out his own independent business arrangement with the woman who wanted to hire him, but the defendant made an arbitrary decision by telling the woman that the plaintiff wasn't available - which was a complete lie. The plaintiff deserved to be compensated because the defendant took an opportunity away from him by not informing him of a potential opportunity to earn more money. The defendant would've never done this had it been his own son who was being given an opportunity to make more money; he is a racist, hateful dirtbag.

It would be racist of me to think that of him just because he is of a different race. People don't realize that calling people racist just because they are involved in a conflict with you AND are of a different race than you IS RACIST itself! I'm glad she used the slavery analogy because it sounds to me (from this clip), he was trying to obligate the plaintiff to stay at his job, when he made a decision to find employment elsewhere. Most job sites/ places of business have what is called "at-will employment", which means that the employer can terminate the employee's position at any time and they are not required to give them a reason for doing so. At the same time, an employee reserves the right to resign from their position at any time without giving their employer a reason of why they are leaving. For the defendant to stop the man from leaving just goes to show you that he doesn't respect the plaintiff's decision to leave because it would "hurt his business". Get over it! He wants to go! find someone else in his place and be done with it!

I have to agree with half of the people who pointed out Judge Mablean...SHE WAS MAKING A POINT BY USING THE "SLAVE DAYS" AS AN EXAMPLE AS TO HOW THE BOSS WOULDN'T ALLOW HIS WORKER TO GO AND WORK FOR A DIFFERENT JOB! I mean WTF!? She was pointing out that what the boss did was a SHITTY CHOICE because he DENIED the employee to go out and work for a different company! There is ABSOLUTELY NO LAW that prohibits ANYONE to go out and work at a different job of thier choice!
