I think most of them just have an issue with jailing someone for being financially strapped.

He’s a delight. He really takes no nonsense from a defendant, but gets to the truth so he can work with the person and he is funny. I love when he gets everyone laughing with him. He’s s good man, that is for sure.

Hot damn, courtroom etiquette is lost in Zoom... I think it's the 3rd or 4th. I am a home baker and home cook. I am not a huge drinker, but I cook regularly with alcohol. The alcohol evaporates out so there is no way it was from something he ate, unless it was jello shots or something that is more alcohol than food.

There are some cakes where alcohol is soaked in to them.. Not saying it's an excuse as he should know what he eats.

That was an awesome judgment in the first case. If she'd maxed her CC out & had an emergency she'd be unable to pay bills & default on her next month's payments too. Yes- he's got compassion! I hope she was able to keep up. So many people were ruined by lockdowns all for NOTHING.

There were so many wholesome moments in this video. Judge Simpson is a class act and quite a few of the people being sentenced seemed genuinely remourseful.

I hope people learn from watching these cases: Don't break laws, it's too expensive. Just don't do it. It will cost you hundreds of dollars in payment to the courts and likely loss of your job from having to do jail time. If you want to be successful in life paying your bills, feeding and clothing yourself and your family then you cannot break the laws. Make good life decisions. This is why we parents set rules, boundaries and consequences for bad behavior. We try to teach our children from the start that to be productive members of the community and to have a successful life you have to obey laws. It's as simple as that. Don't break the law then complain you're poor. You made that decision all on your own. Life is all a nonstop series of decisions. Slow down and take the time to make good ones.

That's all true, but justice is not dealt out equally either, unfortunately. Sometimes the stupidest situations can spiral & get out of control. The one man with about 15 pot charges were ALL personal use charges. That's just ridiculous. Laws like that help no one. He was hardly a MENACE to society but now he gets jail. And we see violent criminals & mass looters & assaulters not even getting bail, just revolving door treatment or not even arrested at all.

I appreciate that this judge doesn’t get drunk on his power. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts, absolutely. How refreshing to see this judge be so positively impactful to the community. We need him in SoCal.
