I recorded this video several months ago and never ended up finishing it. I think now is a good time to get my frustrations out :) My Socials 👇 Instagram: / axelwestmma Twitter: / casualaxelwest
I actually recorded this video last year, but I didn’t get around to editing or posting it until semi-recently. Whoops 😅 Nothing has changed though. Strickland got robbed by Du Plessis, and Allen losing a stinky decision to Evloev. This BS happens almost every week

“Why are the fighters never the ones we like”. This, this is why people think every fight is a robbery. It’s just bias. Robberies do happen but it’s not as common as the combat sports community makes out. People call robbery on at least one fight every single UFC card. I watch the fights live, judge it and 99% of the time when the winner is announced i’m not suprised whereas it seems the MMA community is always shocked. UFC 298 was a great card, I watched it start to finish. This includes Ian Garry vs Geoff Neal and Robert Whittaker vs Paulo Costa. People are up in arms about these decisions and I just don’t get it. The fights ended and It was painfully obvious to me who was going to get the decision for both fights. Same with Strickland vs Du Plessis, I was confident Dricus won the fight when it ended and sure enough i was right. It’s not just the MMA community though, boxing has it too. I watched Fury vs Ngannou and was so impressed by Ngannou I couldn’t believe what was happening but he didn’t win that fight. Very clear 7 rounds to fury. I rarely ever see a fight and think it was a wrong decision. What makes more sense, that the judges just keep getting it wrong and that I just happen to be unlucky enough to always get it wrong too or the judges get it right and the majority of MMA fans (community not known for its intellectuals) are wrong.

Interesting take, and I actually don't know why anyone thinks those fights were robberies (I don't at all). But I do think there's more to it. You can't deny that fights like Albazi Kara France, Marcos Grant, and Jones Reyes were absolute bullshit decisions. And in Reyes's case he wasn't even particularly liked, he's just a better person than the steroid cheat. I also agree with your Fury Ngannou take. I think people were blowing that fight out of proportion because everyone expected Francis to get clean swept every round or finished. So for him to almost win was incredible.

@@Axel-MMA Yeah I agree with that, some fights are definitely robberies just not as many as people think.

Are the judges bad or is it a combination of bad judging criteria and bad judges ?
