I vividly remember watching this episode when I was a child. I adored Judy and my mother let me stay up and watch it. I was only 11, it was a Big Deal. At 10:20 Johnny asks Judy about her upcoming engagement at Talk of the Town in London. She died there just six short months after this interview. There will never be another like her. Rest in peace, Judy.

She died six months after this appearance… at age 47!!! The voice was breaking but she powered through. One of the best to ever do it. Her mind is deteriorating… she told the Happy Harry story years earlier to uproarious response. RIP Judy aka Frances Gumm 🤍

What a huge talent and what a horrible lose. Judy died when I was a child but my parents (especially my mother) loved old movies, so I was introduced to old Hollywood at a very young age. Judy was the best and Hollywood studios treated her like trash. they saw her as a money atm not as the talented sensitive lady she who would have benefited from simple kindness but was faced with brutal critics, starved and overworked while at MGM in the 1930's so sad. Despite all of that Judy Garland shined on screen. So great to see this old TV appearance that show her wonderful personality and powerful vocals thank you for posting.

it feels like she knew she was saying goodbye in the performances of these songs which make me cry. all she did was give us magical performances and she was treated like trash by the industry and the men in charge of her career and finances.

Johnny was the best -- i love these clips - the other day i woke up after dreaming about family members who passed away the past few years and i felt a bit down - before i got out of bed i popped open my laptop to check emails etc, clicked on youtube and there was a clip of Charles Grodin and Johnny Carson going at it and i laughed so hard i had tears in my eyes of joy - so i went from feeling down to laughing out loud -- thanks Johnny and may you RIP!

Dear and respected editors of this video channel, it would be great if you could upload Belinda Carlisle's a full recording of her guest appearance on the show from 1988. where she performed two songs in addition to the interview. One of them is I GET WEAK and the other, if I'm not mistaken, is HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH. I hope you will want to please all of us who love her. Thank you in advance on behalf of myself and Belinda Carlisle fans. 🍺🍺 from Steve.

Dude - it’s “I couldn’t care less…” Not “I could care less…” Think about it… Saying it your way, is like saying that you might care less than you do right now, but you’re not going to. By saying it correctly, you’re saying that you won’t care any less than you do right now; which makes more sense… But don’t worry. Just like a lot of other grammar mistakes, you’re guilty of committing this butchering of the English language, along with 90% of the population… Because they’re all dumb, too. But, I couldn’t care less.

You can't live on Ritalin, Seconal, vodka, and cigarettes indefinitely. I'm sick of hearing Mr. Mayer and Judy's mother trashed by commenters so young they can't name a president before Obama. There is free will and we all have choices to make. In her right frame of mind, Judy would never have gone near these songs. She wasn't robbed; she threw it all away and needed free lodging.
