I use an Astatic 51 designed for 78rpm. The weight has been significantly reduced so record wear is minimal at best. Since these use a mechanical rejection system you have to fiddle with it to ensure that it trips at the end of play. But once this is done it will last indefinitely. Ed

I had a 412 and it was an interesting unit. Someone had painted it and blanked out the coin chutes. I repaired the amp and it worked well

I want one, ok I want one in each room of my house ! Thanks for sharing. I have a early - preelectric battery operated wurlitzer 4 tube radio. Perhaps one day I'll be able to send you a picture. The radio is in storage. I'd think it is 1925 or before. I haven't been able to find any info on it, and it is not one of the 1920's wurlitzer radios I have seen on the internet. As it looks different from them. I recently purchased a nice (original rustic) seaburg 1930's amplifier. Your wurlitzer jukebox is truely drool worthy.

Awesome! I'm a radio/TV collector, mostly for their art-deco style, and LOVE jukeboxes. I just never had the space or money for the models I like. That one's a beauty with the curved top. Enjoy!

Great machine. Thanks for sharing. Too bad that these really tore up records. What styli do you use?

Beautiful machine and definitely a unique cabinet. However, I’m perplexed about the comment regarding the lack of a coin return. I don’t think any 312’s or 412’s had coin returns.

What sort of styli did juke boxes which played 78s have please? It was surely impossible and also impractical to change them after each playing. Lovely video, thenk you.

Astatic 51 cartridge and needle for 78rpm
@rjtwigg1

Probably sapphire needles. The weight of the tonearm would determine how much wear the record and the needle endured. The 78's that were marked, " Unbreakable Under Normal Use" should not be played on a machine made before the late 1940's or early 1950's.
