British TV presenter, nature lover and walking enthusiast Julia Bradbury discovers why Perth is an extraordinary nature city in the second of her four part Western Australia travelogue series. Join Julia as she pulls on her walking boots and experiences the best of Western Australia.
Julia starts the second part of her journey kayaking up the Swan River, letting the sounds of the river speak for themselves. Next stop is King’s Park, one of the largest city parks in the world and base for Perth’s renowned Botanic Gardens where some 3000 varieties of the state’s flora are protected - a living picture postcard in the heart of the city. After a hike to Lesmurdie Falls, Julia takes a helicopter to Western Australia’s own paradise island - Rottnest. Rottnest Island is among the most special jewels in Australia’s crown. It’s owned and run by the state of Western Australia as a protected, Class A nature reserve. Julia meets the island’s most famous inhabitants, the ridiculously cute quokkas, before watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean.
