Can he tell us how many billions of dollars were spent on government buildings, signage, software, brochures rebranding 20,000 government vehicles plus all hospitals police stations libraries council buildings plus all associated pamphlet’s etc. These Billions spent will never be made public but under discovery could be so. The billions spent could have built 3-4 state of the art New Hospitals & staff. These billions were spent to appease less than 9% of the population & less than 3% whom can speak or read Maori. @@maorifilm You are a British citizen, of New Zealand, English is the official language of England. Te Reo is not the language of New Zealand, and was not a recognised language until 1987. Just more of the liberals ideology to distort history, and pervert the treaty. It is also indoctrinating the youth with false history! A fact is that the government can not make something 'official', that is like Ardern saying the government is the single source of truth. Only the blind fall for such errors.

As far I'm aware there is a "plain English" legislation when it comes to the government communicating with the public. I would say that this includes the name of any government department and government owned enterprises! This has been brought in by Labour and the government should make use of this legislation!

If you get down to it, English, - I think, Maori, and Sign are NZ's official languages. A law change would be required to change that set-up. The way things are going Mandarin, Cantonese, etc etc will be the languages of the future. It's happening now --- HELP!!

Of course the police were not ordered to step down from keeping the piece at the Auckland woman’s rally recently. Or did that police group on site choose to do it on their own volition? Why wouldn’t the speakers consternation be true? Offering no logical answer must be considered an answer in itself.

It's outside of my memory that a more blatant example of outraged indignation and race resentment taken on board as a hoped for policy since Maori were betrayed by British duplicity surrounding the existence of two Treatys that made possible a Pakeha land grab and a near genocide on our country's Tangata Whenua. It's also easy to despise a privileged person, as is this guy, who has no knowledge around Police control strategies that prefer to use physical violence as a last resort. What in Hell does the Julian Batchelor expect? Perhaps his enduring wet dream is to have the Police pick up the brutal tactics they employed to control the people - there were a lot of them, walking in protest along Molesworth Street in downtown Wellington against a South African Springbock Rugby tour of New Zealnd from which non-white players were excluded from the tour. The Police went in with battens in hand indiscriminately crashing these down on protesters heads. The day the blood flowed. Latter, protesters strapped on motorcycle crash helmets for protection, so the Police beat them around their bodies. We have policing by consent here, any abuse of that could likely have a deleterious effect on maintaining public order resulting in this guy here being restless in his bed and unable to rest fearing that it'll be his time next if he has his evil dreams come true.

Lets just have the referendum and be done with it,.......I would like to vote for all Gvt Departments in English, I would say it's going to be more widely recognised by every NZ citizen. The Coalition do need to stick to policies the voters put them in to change. Leave Maori signage where places of cultural significance require the Maori story to be accurate in history and translation. Removal of The Treaty in University, subjects that don't require it, and also trade apprentiships. Banking, Real estate etc. At least policies need to be balance out by a fairer distribution of Maori and English. representation
