This brings back such wonderful memories when i was a kid and i used to stay round my lovely nan's on a Saturday night. We used to snuggle up on the sofa and watch Juliet Bravo. She died when i was only 13 (I'm 51 now). She was the best nan ever. I still really miss her. 😢

Loved this series and as a result of it, and other 'Cop' programmes before then, I joined the police in 1986, became a Sgt in '95' and did my 30 yrs service out on the streets. Loved it all, despite a lot of changes over those 3 decades. Great TV theme and a good portrayal of the police.

I have to agree as this makes me feel emotional too, such is the power of music but I too have lost so many beautiful souls since the 80s but it also reminds me of a time when life and the world was in a slightly better place than the destructive volatile phase it seems to be in today. Memories are so precious but yes, they pull at our heart strings and music is the perfect release for this....tears of joy really 😀

Deljit Singh It is a very powerful instrumental...it affected me hearing this tune as a child (many years ago!), and still does...makes me feel 'emotionally motivated' and gave me chills hearing it today (26 August 2018).

One of the greatest theme tunes ever, i still get a tingle down my spine when i here it. The bbc should do a follow up series. This program was both ahead and of its time.

I'm a 70s kid a great decade to grow up in. Yayy! We only had 3 channels back then..that's why when hearing all these tv themes we have very strong memories. Bring them all back that's wat I say :), eddie shoestring, the gentle touch, juliet bravo..i even remember sum of the old american ones like the kojack, the rockford files, cagney and lacey, petrocheley and starskey n hutch. Ahh times gone so fast, I miss being a kid. Bmx`s, zx spectrum, hopscotch, beck jumping building tree houses, raleigh choppers, scaletrix, top trumps, jumble sales, vynl records, roland rat, finger bobs, you and me, bagpuss, why don't you, grange hill tucker and gripper stepson, huckleberry finn in the 6 week summer hols, wham bars and chocolate marathons. :))

This was the first tune I ever bought with pocket money, a 7 inch record. I am now 35 and this song i still love it. Use to watch the programme all the time in the 80's. Wish I was in the 80's again, great era

One of the best ever TV themes in its original form as used in the TV series. So much better than the inferior cover versions that exist on compilation TV theme albums.

Luckily, the BBC released many of its originally recorded themes on the BBC record label back then. They knew early on that lots of people liked their themes.

It's never been repeated on TV or got the recognition it deserved. It broke ground, dealt with sexism, but women in the lead role and in a position of power. Had challenging storylines including the unheard of; loveable multi series characters being murdered and a unhappy ending in the series finale. It now seems dated but that's because it helped change perceptions and outdate itself.

The theme was composed by Derek Goom. It is based upon one of Johann-Sebastian Bach's 'Well Tempered Clavier' preludes.

Whoah. Didn't know that. Just looked it up. Book 2 C minor, apparently. I played that one for Grade VIII piano! I sort of see the similarity but wouldn't have picked it up otherwise.

I am scarred for life after the last episode where Danny Sparks was killed off! I was only 8 or 9 when it originally aired, so of course, it was all so real to me back then. This theme tune will always remind me of those days when Juliet Bravo was my favourite show!

"Why don't you switch of your television set and go and do something less boring instead" was an essential philosophy for a kid like me in the dark ages. yes the space between was golden, but the so called "highlights" were the brownest, poorly polished turds.. nostalgia is a sickness, the fever must break, we must embrace reason. it's not too late to save telly AND society.

The scene where PC Sparks dies and Inspector Darblay has to announce to her team that he has died in the ambulance following an attempted robbery, stayed in my memories all these years because I remember how moved I was whilst watching it aged only 6. Probably the first time a scene on the tele upset me!

Yes, what a way to end the programme. It was Inspector Kate Longton by then though not Darbly. Fortunately Only Fools and Horses was on immediately afterwards to lighten the mood when it was first shown a few days before Christmas 🎄

Always remember that episode where they coax a depressive who has lost his job down from the window. As they are congratulating each other, one of them says 'It was teamwork that done it' The man breaks free, mutters 'No it didn't' and hurls himself through the window in slow motion

I well remember this programme and the tune, which is in C minor. I was growing up when it came out (now fifty one). My father was a beat bobby and so the connection with the long arm of the law is a personal one.
