$300 per month seems crazy low for groceries to me. I used to spend $300 per month before the massive inflation and before having two kids. Our budget is noe $600 per month for groceries and we've spent between $400 and $800 depending on the month. Good for you managing on $300 especially with organic groceries!

It helps that we mostly eat beans and whole grains. I eat oatmeal with walnuts and a banana for breakfast every day at work. It's so good and pretty cheap as long as I don't go crazy with the walnuts.

I think 300 a month on groceries is spectacular! My children are grown so it’s just 2 of us now. Both my husband and I pack our lunch for work and we don’t eat organic all the time. Our budget is 450.00 a month and we normally come in right under or over that. This budget does include household items like cleaners and detergent and personal care items like soap and shampoo. I guess without the household and personal items we would come in around 350.00. We do not live in a high coat area but we do eat out about once every week or two. I think you are doing wonderful not to plan your meals. I meal plan, don’t always stick to it exactly but I always have a plan. I grocery shop sometimes weekly and sometimes every other week.

We have a separate line item for eating out and we've really cut back on that. We also include soap and toothpaste and stuff in our grocery budget since we buy most of those things at our grocery store also. I try to extra stock up on non perishables when they are on sale instead of buying once we run out. $450 is not bad for 2 adults. Sounds like you are doing well!

I spend $400 a month eating nonorganic as a single person in a mid-cost of living area so I’d be very interested in knowing how yall do your groceries 😭 you seem to have won in life lol

@Daniel-iy4zy Our grocery store is pretty expensive but it's mostly bulk items so we bring our own bags and fill up what we need. That way we aren't paying extra for individually packaged items or big name brands. Most of what we buy are just beans, grains, and fresh veggies. Some months we spend more if we replenish our nuts or if we need more special items like molasses or maple syrup.
