Greetings from France. CONGRATULATIONS 🏆😍 a big wowwwzy. Goodness this video THE BEST was what I wanted to watch. Everything was explained so well. Silly me, I had my keyring pliers but used my fingers to separate the ring and also broke my nails 🤣😥. You have taught me to be MORE SENSIBLE at my ripe old age of 70. Thanks for sharing caring and making me SMILE 🤩👍👍👍💐💐💐🌹🌹🌹💕💕💕

Greetings from New Zealand! I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I didn't have a clue about the difference between split rings and jump rings when I first started - I always wondered why people would buy split rings. The tool is very good for opening the split rings - I've absolutely destroyed my nails in the past too.

Very helpful! I've used split rings on my charm bracelets for years, but they do catch on knit fabric. Now I know how to correctly open jump rings, and to double them up. Thanks!

I use split rings all the time to secure my charms to the bracelets. I use my nails to open up the split rings which has ruined my nails. Didn't know there was a split ring opener. Thank you this was so helpful. 🙂

I often use split rings for key chains since key chains take a lot of abuse and the wire wrapped stones or metal charms may come off without the extra support. But they certainly are not for just any old jewelry application except for chain mail applications as a closed ring use involving multiple ring attachments to negate the sharper edges.

Very informative. Thank you. What gauge of jump rings do you recommend for dangles?
@The_Stylish_Maker
Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Lory. I would use either an 18 or 20 gauge for this. I certainly wouldn't go any thinner than that. Here's another video I did about jump rings. I can't remember if I mentioned gauge in this one or not but you might find it useful as well. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yqujr6lvsIZziXo

May I ask how to tighten the jump ring ? I try tightening it with the charms and a couple days later the jump ring loosens and detaches.
@The_Stylish_Maker
2 ай бұрын
There are several reasons for this. I cover how to close a jump ring correctly at around 5.50 in the video. So try that first. If that still doesn't work, try using a thicker gauge jump ring.

almost every single piece of jewelry I've made with jump rings have failed catastrophically. Without soldering they are the weak point of any piece. I stopped making jewelry because I couldn't figure out a way to secure the jump ring without soldering them shut.
@The_Stylish_Maker

Hi, have you tried using a heavier gauge? I mostly use 18 gauge or heavier. It also depends on what you're making. If it's a heavy piece, you may find that you need two jump rings or a heavier gauge wire. So sorry this has happened to you. Thank you for your question.
@joyg2526
10 ай бұрын
@@The_Stylish_Maker Thanks for the answer! I do make heavier pieces but I'm also catching pieces on one thing or another. When that happens the jump ring gives and beads go flying everywhere. I'll give your suggestions a try and see if that helps.

Oh that's no good at all. You could try a split ring too. They don't look as good but should be sturdy. @@joyg2526
