Thank you for the video. I have owned Hondas for many years and never had a dead battery except one time at home when I left the key on. I just recharged it that one time. Brand new from 2011 to 2020 when I traded it for my Harley and no dead battery. But my Sportster is now dead so I am charging it thanks to your video.

You need a battery tender for that. They charge the battery a little bit all winter and prolong the life of the battery.

Thank you for suggesting that. I'll look into that.

@@NotamechanicBetty I have two vehicles that sit all winter. Schumacher SC1278, 750mAh and the other is Dellran battery tender Jr. Also at 750mAh. They monitor the voltage and add some energy to the battery every now and then. Their great.

Starting a bike doesn’t charge the battery, actually will kill it. Motorcycles don’t have alternators, so need to actually ride it for about 15-20 minutes to charge. Use a battery tender.

Good video, thanks. Well explained and easy to follow the steps. My AGM battery on my Sportster has run low and the bike won’t crank up. I need to jump start it now. Waiting for the HD HOG booster pack to arrive so I can do it. It’s the first time I needed to do it as I only recently received the bike, and I wasn’t sure how to do it. I’ll probably swap it to a lithium battery so I don’t have to deal with this issue so often.

You don't need to take off the side panel to access the negative terminal. Connect the positive to the positive terminal under the seat, and just connect the negative side of the jumper cables to any part of your frame to ground it. That's all....Enjoy!

I do like the look of the cafe racer style bikes that is probably what drew me to this bike but, I do agree Something higher where I can sit more comfortably will be a future project. Thanks for the comment ❤️
