And tried tx5 and tx4 for s port. Switched it on in ports tab. My transmitter finds only 4 basic sensors but is receiving telemetry. I've not shorted the 2 tiny tabs for inverted as I think not needed using the underside connection that says sbus Or am I wrong. Any help appreciated as I'm going mad now lol. Thanks

Some flight controllers require to be powered with LiPo also for receiver to be powered while connected to Betaflight. If my full size mamba F405 DJI stack has an RSSI pad, should I still not connect the RSSI cable? I’m having difficulty trying to find some guidance on hooking up my R1 rx to the full size mamba DJI stack. The pads in the ‘receiver’ part of the flight controller, according to the card that comes with the FC are: GND 5V RC Invertor[TX1] Uninverted[TX1] RSSI There is a note re; ‘RC’ that says (TBS/SBUS/IBUS/DSM(RX1) It’s all Russian to me. Could you clarify the connections for me please?
@TMacFPV
4 жыл бұрын
Receiver GND goes to Flight Controller (FC) ground, Receiver 5V goes to FC 5V, receiver SBUS goes to FC 'RC' (which your documentation shows as SBUS along with the other TBS/IBUS/DSM protocols). Receiver SPORT goes to the pad right next to the 'RC' pad which is labeled SPORT in your FC wiring diagram documentation you can find here bit.ly/MambaF405DJIFC_Diagram
@Grumpyoldtwit

Thanks for the wick reply TMac. Hmmm. It’s not labelled SPORT in the wiring diagram I’m looking at. Mine says Invertor (TX1) and Uninverted(TX1). That’s why I asked the question.
@TMacFPV
4 жыл бұрын
ok Muzz, no problem. The pad next to the 'RC' pad in the wiring diagram on the site URL I gave you shows as the SPort pad (in yellow writing). If your documentation does not show that, your SPort signal from the R1 is inverted which means you need to connect it to the dedicated "Inverted" TX1. This will then uninvert the signal (i/e/ 2 inverts = 1 uninvert)

TMac, hello good sir. Have you had any range issues with the R1 or the R1F? I picked up 2 of each from Grayson Hobby and all four of them had me pulling my hair out for over a month. My range in optimal conditions for all four of them is 100 feet before RSSI starts to plummet and i mean fast right to failsafe (90 rssi to 50 in a couple seconds). I bought new tx antenna, new rx antenna, A NEW TX (had Jumper t16, picked up a T12) installed on multiple quads in every mounting possibility imaginable, even mounted as incorrectly as i could just because, mounted them 1 foot off the quad on a stick to get completely away from everything on the quad, incrementally trimmed antenna through the "range" of lengths trying to tune it...........I could go on. And yes, flown in optimal conditions, perfect line of sight, no rf interference, flew friends bird same day no issues (xm+). I picked up xm+ and installed it and what do you know, I can fly to the end of the field, into the next field and oh happy days. But whats the deal with the jumpers? Four lemons! No way....right? Sorry for the long comment. Tried to keep it short while answering what i know people are going to ask. Is there anybody out there with this issue? Thanks y'all and thank you TMac for your superb videos.

I have not had any issues with the R1 receivers I have used the few times I have used them. I normally fly Crossfire. Additionally, a fellow pilot I gave an R1+ to reported he got 1.7 miles of range with it (and could have gone farther if not for his VTX limitation) on a fixed wing. This was back in December of 2019, so perhaps something has changed since then?

@@TMacFPV Yeah I made the jump over to crossfire as well (which is awesome), and thanks for you vid on signal strength. I'm baffled with these jumper receivers. Hey HelioGenesis-HS! I believe the Jumper R1+ receiver comes with the ACCST D16 protocol firmware prior to FrSky updating all their ACCST stuff to version 2.1. Yes, should be the same type of setup. I mention this between 4:43 and 5:09 time marks of the video. The SBUS and S_Port wires of the R1 and the R-XSR are swapped. Other than that, connections should be the same. Some flight controllers have an S_Port pad and you don't need to use a spare Tx pad or PPM pad and go through remapping, etc. I've got a checklist you can download in the video description if you'd like. Also, you need to pay attention to what firmware you have loaded on the T16 multi-protocol module. You should be able to update your MPM firmware using the process in this video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/poCun6GwZnZ6kpw Reason ot do it is if your R-XSR has FrSky ACCST D16 V2 firmware on it, you'll need version 1.3.0.91 or newer firmware since the MPM didn't work with ACCST D!6 V2 receiver firmware. Of course, there's not way to know what firmware you have on your receiver really unless you put it there. With MPM firmware 1.3.0.91 or newer, you'll either want to use FrSky x or FrSky X2 protocols on your MPM when binding to your receiver. That's explained in this video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2mytzWGViZ-af20

Hi, Thank you for the excellent video. I’m very new at this, and very reluctant to do my own modes and installs. I have a brand new Beta85X with a faulty Frsky FCC receiver and BetaFPV is giving a hard time in that because I’m in Canada they are only offering me a $25 refund - crazy night!! I’ve been dealing with their support for over a week and this is all that they are offering. I was thinking that maybe I purchase another receiver and have installed by a local hobby shop, hence my following question! Can this receiver be installed on the Beta85X HD 2S-3S version and still get the full range of telemetry? Thank you
@TMacFPV
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sam! You're welcome. Let's see if I can help. Just did a search for your version of Beta85X HD 2S-3S. If its the original version (which I believe is what you're talking about) and does not have the F4 V2 flight controller but has the original V1 instead, here's the link for the flight controller: betafpv.com/products/f4-2s-brushless-flight-controller-and-esc . What this link shows me is you have a 5v pad, a ground (GND) pad, an SBUS pad, and a spare UART TX pad (the 4 pads I mention in this video). That's all you need for this telemetry receiver. So, "Yes" it will work. It MAY be a little big in physical dimensions for that size quad though. If you only want/need RSSI displayed on your OSD in your goggles, the XM+ is a smaller size RX. If you want/need the voice alerts you may want to go with the FrSky R-XSR which you can get at SH Hobbies up there in Canada at this site: www.snhobbies.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=frsky+r-xsr . As mentioned in the video, the connections for the R-XSR and the Jumper R1 are the same except the SBUS and S_Port wires are swapped. Hope this helps Sam. Clear skies friend!

I spent several hours on trying to get full telemetry. Below is how I get both rx and telemetry to work: Enable softserial Connect rx FPort to softserial tx (not SBUS as Grayson Hobby outlined) set serialrx_inverted = ON set serialrx_halfduplex = ON or OFF depending on firmware (BF or iNav) set telemetry_inverted = OFF set telemetry_halfduplex = ON (BF or iNav 2.3) set telemetry_uart_unidir = ON (iNav 2.4)

Hey Mike, I've decided to do a video on the R1F (per your suggestion) as I'm getting a lot of questions on it. I've ordered one and am awaiting its arrival. Hopefully I can get video on it out this week. When researching stuff on it, I recalled you said you're doing it over Softserial. I've learned myself although it CAN be done this way, it's not recommended as your control signal is now also going over this Softserial. Softserial is software emulated and not meant for high data rate applications like control signals. You MAY not encounter issues, however, by doing it this way you're taking a chance on losing your control signal (and quad?). Just thought I'd pass the info on to you. I'd be interested in hearing from you as to whether or not you've flown with it yet and if so have you encountered any issues? Thanks! Also, what flight controller are you using?

@@TMacFPV Yes, I'm aware of the issues using a softserial UART for a rx channel. The issue with get full telemetry is only the F4 FC's. Though I did connected the R1F to a F3 with no problems. As far as for a F4, there are really only two solutions: 1) use a SBUS inverter or 2) wait for someone to figure out how to connect to an un-inverted pad on the R1F. I have a couple of SBUS inverter but decided just to shelf the R1F until an un-inverted hack is identified as on the FrSky X-series rx's. You are going to find out that binding with a T16 that you are going to have to change the freq offset be either 40 or -40. Though, binding to a FrSky Taranis is straight forward. My understanding is the current version of the T16 multi-protocol module firmware does not do freq optimization during the bind process like the FrSky radio does but they are apparently working the go firmware to incorporate these feature at some time. The only information on binding and configuring the R1F that I’ve come across has been on the Grayson Hobby website but neither of these issues are discussed. Good luck on the video. You will probably be the first to explain how to setup a R1F properly.

How do you bind this receiver?n I have been having a bit of a problem.
@TMacFPV
3 жыл бұрын
"Binding method: Press and hold the receiver's bind button, turn on the power (i.e. plug in the LiPo with bind button depressed), the receiver will now enter binding mode. The red light is always on and the green light is flashing slowly. Turn on the remote control and begin the bind procedure according to your radio. After the bind is successful the red light is off and the green light is always on."

@@lucan3361 Are you attempting to bind in FrSky X or FrSky X2 sub-protocol? Should be FrSky X (if you did not attempt to update firmware). Have you attempted to finish the binding process even if both lights are solid (it might work)? Sometimes the lights don't always match the instructions. I always turn the radio on first. Then get ready to hit "bind" in the radio. Keep the bind button pressed while you power up the Lipo/receiver. Hit "bind" on your transmitter, then I select ch9-16 telemetry On. Sometimes the lights don't always match the instructions, however, if you use this process, to include FrSky X, and it doesn't work, check your connections and solder joints to make sure two are not connected together. The bind process should be the same as in this short video (it appears to be the same receiver re-branded). kzitem.info/news/bejne/koFtt6Sgg4GQpmU

Use RadioMaster's R161 instruction manual (its the same receiver). RadioMaster has better "customer support/user manuals). User manual is here: drive.google.com/file/d/1KiPtPaTAoMKRd1g9-0IfgLyfwrdGNa_-/view
