Try beating the egg whites until they can form peaks next time 😊 It is so much easier to apply to your hair when it is a foam and it seems to permeate the hair better instead of sliding off the hair strands. None of our punk/goth/alt hairstyles were achieved professionally back in the day but were instead achieved by a friend the vast majority of the time. I somehow became the resident goth/punk/alt hairdresser/stylist and we went through an inordinate number of eggs 😅
@amberdelange

The protein in egg white basically functions as a glue. Before oil paint, painters used egg tempera paint, where instead of oil, egg was used as the binding medium. Painting is nothing else than gluing (or bonding) pigments to a canvas or panel, with oil being a very slow drying type of glue (which makes oil paint so popular), and egg being a faster drying agent. Many traditional glues were made of protein. There are gelatine ones from animal skin or bone marrow (I think) and milk can be used to treat cracks in porcelain. Anyway that explains why it had such amazing hold 😊 Hope the people on here appreciate this bit of background 😊

If you whip the egg whites, it has a consistency more like mousse; it makes it easier to apply, and the coverage is more even. Another easy way to apply it is in an empty condiment squeeze bottle (you just shake it really vigorously after separating the yolk). This method was really good for mohawks. Had an old ketchup bottle specifically for that purpose, I used on my punk friends.

@Miss_Kisa94 its probably not actually cooked, but egg does change opacity when you try to agitate it with water.
