I'm so happy you loved "The Seven-Year Slip". Literally one of my favorites from last year. "The Poppy War" trilogy has been on my tbr for a while, but I've been afraid to pick it up because of the historical aspects considering I can never get into historical fiction. Plus, I'm afraid the fantasy aspects maybe intimidating too.😬

I'm so glad you read the Poppy War! I was stunned when I found out it was her debut novel. It's fantastic! The way she weaved the story felt so effortless, yet so complex and REAL. Absolutely my favorite series of all time. I will say, the dark details do continue into the two other books, in a necessary, yet understandably unnerving manner. I think my favorite parts of this series are the character dynamics and development. Can't wait to hear what you think about the other books if you read them!

So I read Not in Love and I dont think it was horrible but I def think it was made for the girls out there who dont always have an emotional connection. I think sometimes as females there’s this weird thing where we are told we have to be emotionally connected to sex where for males its usually more physical. Now personally I dont think either way, but I feel like maybe Ali made this book for the girls who dont like romance or lovey dovey stuff. I think there are surprisingly a lot of females out there who just want the physical pleasures of sexual intimacy without the whole emotional intimacy , flowers and dates and then there are girls who need that.
