That's too cool, were you that familiar with all his songs that you mostly nailed it? Any flubs you remember heh? I'm from San Antonio, and one night in the late 90's when he played at the legendary Floore Country Store in Helotes (just NW of San Antonio), the same drummer from this video (who'd I seen twice previously) with that hilariously minimal drum kit suddenly according to Junior's announcement fell ill that evening. It just so happened to turn out that the person who opened up for Junior that night, the motherfucking Texas legend Johnny Bush, just happened to have played drums in his early days enough that he never lost it, and knew Junior's catalog to pull it off so impressively that the house came down for both Junior and Johnny that night when the show was over, such an epic show to have witnessed.

I drove 10 hours one way to see Jr. play at a small town called Palisades Colorado which is near where my father grew up. I'd do it again. Some fools pay $2000 to see some pop star center stage front row. $55 and $800 for gas and a rental car, and I still have the better deal! To see young people cheer when a song from 1928 is played is a real kick too.

He starts off nervous on first song, but by end he's just Pwnt the Opry. The reason he hasn't got as "BIG" as many hacks with less talant is he's a musician first, entertainer second.....and concerned about "pop" never. No comprimise. The Honey Badger of Guitarist, cause Country? Swing? Blues? Rock? Metal?, Junior Don't care, he'll shred Polka and you'll like it. Seen him trans from Western Swing to Van Halen, and to twang picking bluesgrassywestern something, and make it sound natural.
