the thing with Junji ito's work is that is doesn't give you a sense of fear or thing like that, it's more to the feeling of uneasy, uncomfortable.... like there's no danger, just that feeling like you need to protect yourself from something

For the Enigma of Amigara Fault I think the people going in are coming out as the monsters, thinking they’re so perfectly shaped to fit in the hole that they don’t even realized they’re being crushed, pulled, and shaped by the hole changing. Since they have the sensation to keep going, they don’t even think to go out. They will come out as these horrible, long lines of human flesh, bones, teeth, and organs, just to think they fit perfectly. Edit, 2 months: 1K!? omg thank you so much!
@yokovinn
Жыл бұрын
Yep, you’re right. The origin of the holes was that 1000s of years ago, an ancient civilization dug human holes as punishments for criminals. They were forced in, and they could not go out. The reason being, the holes were specifically designed so that with each movement, you only went forward. Anyways eventually, as you keep going forward and forward, the human like hole starts to disfigure into the weird shapes you saw. The people are in fact aware, and they can feel every single part of their body being stretched in inhumanly ways.

@@toiletjenny333 I saw that tale foundry video about this and it was good, tho. Their explanation put things in perspective as they saw it as an analogy of how people think they found the right path for them (in career or relationships) only to end up being stuck on that path and the incapability to turn back from those decisions. Something along those lines 💁♀️

The Enigma of Amigara Fault is one of the most traumatizing one-shot mangas ever. Imagine going to Amigara Fault just to discover that a hole that is shaped like your body was waiting for you, urging you to go in it. But once you get in, the hole suddenly starts distorting to the point where it makes your own body parts twist and turn with the direction of the hole. Then at the end of the hole, you are nothing but a distorted abomination.

I've seen enough "transformation" and "mind break" genre of umm.. "you-know-it" to see that Slug Girl as an interesting story more than it is disturbing. But yeah that would be disturbing if I imagine it happened in real life though, it's a good thing that it's manga-styled and beside of her tongue turns into a slug, nothing really disturbing was drawn on Yuko. Maybe I should try to look more on Junji Ito's works..

Theories 1.Oil is highly addictive to drink, it acts as trigger to the brain which means they keep you coming back for more. 2.Slugs can grow their body parts back so when she ate a sea meal, she mustve eaten a still-alive slug that has grown and taken over her body. 3.The holes must've been there for thousands of years maybe even millions, and they might have been used for torturing but it got so addicting that people started to go in. They didnt get a sense of it anymore since it was covered up. 4.Sounds smth like Ice-Scream
