On a points system to check for spark turn the motor over until the points are open . Pull the coil wire from the cap and hold exposed end 1/8 inch from a good ground and bridge the point gap. Should spark if coil has 12v . Saves battery life and time by not having to turn the motor over so much.

The Carter YF carbs are much better than the leaky Rochesters. The tops on the Rochesters warp over the float bowl because there aren't any screws on the float end of the top to cinch down. I've had a few 235's over the years and the first thing I'd always do when I got a car with a 235 is trash the Rochester and install a Carter YF 3211S carburetor. The YF 3211S has the thermostatic choke on the back above the linkage. Even a cruddy gummed up Carter YF will run better than a Rochester. My '59 Biscayne runs much better than it did with the poorly designed Rochester.

Haha. If your friend is the local veteran mechanic no wonder there's so many dead cars around.. why the hell is he using the test light on the distributor rotor?? Lol. Just run a jumper wire from the battery to the coil positive, pull the coil wire out of the cap and check for spark.. if you put test light on the negative side of the coil with the ignition on and crank the engine.. if the points are working the test light will flash on and off.. thats the easiest way to check. Good luck.

62, 3 and 4 four door hardtops are so rare. Most buyers bought 4 door sedans. The Arnolds drove a 63 four door hardtop in the Wonder Years. These cars bring premium money in Sweden, so any of the few viable, restorable examples have largely been exported in the last few years.

Hubby loves 63's and doesn't mind 4 doors! Soon up for body and suspension restoration is his 63 4dr Impala hardtop. After that his 63 2dr hardtop. Somewhere in there his 63 Biscayne 4dr sedan. He'll be chasing parts in his 63 long step stepside C10. He's EAT UP on 63's!
